The delivery of either OQE or OQF was delayed by several months because of what I was told was a directional stability problem which cropped up during flight test and was ~5 times the acceptable limit, resulting in QF not wanting to accept the aircraft.
I'm not sure whether the fix was hardware or software related, but's interesting nonetheless! |

Yes, Qantas only has 1 sole person out of thousands of staff who know of their flagship aircrafts difficulties during its entry into service :eek:
Hard not to be critical of your comments when you come up with something like that. If the information is of such a specific and sensitive nature that it would reveal someones source easily then best to keep that information in confidence as it was probably expected to be by the source. |
Damian N, Would you prefer this? It's more the self help flame guide:
http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/av-11849.gif Or this, where we can do it for you? http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...ka2/14_6_1.gif To be honest, there'd be more than one person within Qantas (and no doubt other airlines) who thinks the A380 has 'issues' in the in-service teething process. Even if he'd mentioned any specific problem, there'd probably be 200+ people who knew exactly the same. I think his source is safe. |
Thanks Damien, that was my concern. In my job, I'm very much bound by privacy and as such a bit new to posting what was told to me. That's the trouble in text, there's no expression, so it sometimes can come across the wrong way.
NickN, it's a hard decision when info is of a sensitive nature as to speak out in the interest of all, but I live and learn. Nigel C, love the GIF files. The first one, I've actually seen a person do that!!! Buzz |
A bit off opposite lock will fix it

I find it very interesting to see the odd armchair expert on here especially saying there is A380 troubles. Yet the airlines (SQ & QF) have publically stated in recent media they have had the smoothest entry into service of any type in their fleet.

Both SQ and QF have quoted A380 dispatch rates of over 97 per cent and improving since they entered service which is bloody good for a total fleet of less than 20 aircraft - why would they do this if the truth was different? And why would the media, specialist or general, be biased towards the A380? Surely most would assume that, any media bias, assuming there is any and you can support your statement with examples, would be against it, not for it? Quote:
