Brett, I have to disagree with your statement that ATC were stressed. On our first go around, Director said "hullo again, ........" in a very relaxed and professional manner. Pretty good service, considering he had 3 aircraft thrown at him unexpectedly in an already busy terminal area. On the second, we were sent around and handed off to departures, who also got us expeditiously back around the circuit for the last time. And back to the same Director, who gave me the impression that he was doing this on his ear.

I didn't exactly say they were stressed. I was more implying with a single runway operating and a bit of a queue forming, the last thing they probably wanted was those aircraft back in the circuit.

I'm not a pilot and I don't listen to ATC all day so I'm just posting my humble observations.
