Peter Agatsiotis 28th January 2011 05:14 PM

Saw VUF depart today but too slow for a good photo as I wasn't taking photos of DJ today. snapped one anyway but it was too far away at that stage.

If you look at some of the pictures on jetphotos.net or alike you can see just before (or after depending on what side of AC) the AFL Logo up the top it does not align, and for the size of the AC its a pretty big mess up.

I only notice this as I do signage myself

Dad just checked his photos he took on Wed 26th and has to agree
top does not line up on both sides, same spot,

hope these photos have attached

Brian Wilkes 30th January 2011 05:51 PM

At the end of the day does it really matter?

Dan Hammond 30th January 2011 06:53 PM

I did not notice it till it was mentioned here. But at the end of the day is the average passenger going to notice it? I mean its still clear as to what the logo jet is all about and its easy to see and make out the wording/logos on it. just my 2 cents

AaronBradford 30th January 2011 07:08 PM

Also notice that the door is further aft on the port side? ;)

Yes boeing do build them different.

James Smith 30th January 2011 07:44 PM

It is because there are five teams inscribed on the starboard side top row in front of the AFL logo and only four on the top row of the port side, resulting in the logo being further rearward by about on window length on the starboard side of the fuselage. The difference must be made up in the next rearward red segment.

Is VUF/VUM/VUY in Brisbane today between 2pm and 1730? I saw VUY yesterday on finals whilst at and even managed to get a really **** picture.

Rob R 31st January 2011 10:11 AM

The door locations on VUY are the same as every other 737. All the fuselage's are built the same in Wichita.

Todd Hendry 31st January 2011 10:56 AM

Doors

The port door is larger than the starboard door. Hence the optical illusion.
Todd

Gareth U 31st January 2011 02:04 PM

I always thought the starboard door sat further forward.

Boeing diagrams clearly show the starboard door being positioned further forward on the -100 and -200 series, but not on later models.

There is an extra window on the starboard side on all 737 models.

Although the starboard door is smaller, it still seems to me that it sits further forward. Must simply be an illusion.

I'm not saying they are different than other 737s at all.

Brian Wilkes 31st January 2011 05:15 PM

Any idea when VUY will be back in Melbourne?

Jack B 31st January 2011 05:26 PM

Are there any differences between doors on 737NGs and the older models? The -400s seem to have different windows on L1, or so it seemed to me.

Gareth U 31st January 2011 08:47 PM

Purely cosmetic, as far as I can tell. The -100s, - 200s and the oldest -300s have a slghtly different door operating handle (identical function/operation).

Erik H. Bakke 8th February 2011 10:39 PM

Unless my eyes have deceived me, I saw VH-VOX in Sydney this arvo (Tuesday) with the same titles -VUM has received.

It was parked near the runway 25 fence.

Brian Wilkes 8th February 2011 10:48 PM

VOX has just come back across the ditch after going a C-check!

Brock Little 10th February 2011 07:39 PM

VUZ has entered service, operating DJ346 BNE-MEL this evening.

Nigel S 13th February 2011 10:01 AM

Word is that VUZ is going in the shops tonight to have Gold Coast Suns decals applied-anyone able to confirm this?
Cheers
N'oz

Jack Melon 13th February 2011 10:15 AM

Sure is!

Tim Bowrey 13th February 2011 11:56 AM

MEL-PER-SYD-MEL today. Departing SYD at 2030.

Peter Agatsiotis 13th February 2011 02:05 PM

Lucky that VOX departed whilst I was at Shep's mound, picture attached.
VUN was parked near the old DOM terminal.

Have gone through most of this thread and can't find anything that points to the fact that only the VH registered 'Pacific Blue' aircraft are having these decals applied so a few more to go yet. At this point there are at least 4 so far (VUF, VUM, VUN and VOX).

Zac M 13th February 2011 02:38 PM

Would only leave VUG, VOQ, ZPM and ZPN, am I correct?

Peter Agatsiotis 13th February 2011 05:51 PM

Yes Zac, I thought there were more but I was only going by my digipics.

VH-VOQ was in today.

Brock Little 13th February 2011 07:30 PM

VUZ is getting painted tonight...will it come to OOL tomorrow?

Brian Wilkes 13th February 2011 08:31 PM

I cant see it being ready in time, marking out and applying of the decals in 8 to 12 hours!

Its not getting painted;)

Brock Little 13th February 2011 09:12 PM

Yeah it probably won't get repainted that fast...I guess I've seen too many timelapse videos of aircraft repaintings :o

Paul f. 13th February 2011 09:31 PM

You guys are getting confused, its getting a livery which are decals(stickers)not painted.

Bernie P 14th February 2011 01:18 PM

Taken from the mound last night:

VH-VUZ arriving from Perth:

VH-VXG which called for an emergency due to a 'Fuel Leak' indicator (Left Wing)... After about 5-10 mins waiting, it taxi'd to the gate WITHOUT incident*:

*NOTE: - 5 shot panorama, where I didn't really hvae time for change of settings etc as I had my 80-400mm lens on and I wanted the next arrival, which is above!

Brenden S 14th February 2011 02:16 PM

Well I photographed VUG, VUF in Perth in the past 2 days, and VUM is PB/DJ livery so far.

Rob R 14th February 2011 09:36 PM

Next 2 E190's to arrive will also be white with the third and final (at this stage) arriving in the new colours.

Joe H 15th February 2011 08:21 AM

E-190s

Hey Rob do you know when these new 190's will be arriving? Would be cool to see a white one!

Stefan Perkas 15th February 2011 09:20 AM

ZPQ was due to arrive into Brisbane today. But now has been delayed. Not sure to when though.

Jon Harris 15th February 2011 09:22 AM

Do you think 24FEB will be the day they reveal all? It will co-incide with the launch of VA's SYD-AUH service.

Could be a good opportunity...

Rob R 15th February 2011 09:48 AM

Some things we be revealed very soon.

Nigel S 15th February 2011 11:48 AM

Little birdie tells me a white E190 is due this week,I've also been told that DJ staff will be wearing new uniforms as from the 23rd which would tally with the announcement of the latest financials which is also due on the 23rd.
Cheers
Nigel S

Andrew P 15th February 2011 01:27 PM

which may mean that the financials are not good, so lets lose that bad press in a new product launch etc etc
