Just curious to know the story behind the daily Lufthtansa A380 and 747 from Bangkok to AKL? Assuming freight flights?

Rescue flights to AKL and CHC. A large number of Germans are in NZ hence the number of Lufthansa flights over recent weeks

KLM B777-300ER PH-BVO is scheduled into Sydney this evening.

Flight is from Tokyo-NRT and due at 2100. Flight number KL827

Cheers
Mark

It appears that KLM's routing was somewhat longer than the usual Tokyo-Sydney routing as they have skirted around the west of PNG. Obviously they lacked the requisite overflight approvals but why?
