Emirates tonight
There was an Emirates flight out of Sydney tonight at about 9.30pm. It was EK9921 to Hong Kong. It was very high as it climbed out over Sydenham /Marrickville so I guess it had a light load. Does anyone know the story behind this flight?

Emirates Sky Cargo flight, comes in every Monday at 6:30pm from Dubai via Singapore as EK9920 then departs to Hong Kong as EK9921. This service was started a few months ago and uses Boeing 777-F equipment.

It's got basically nothing on board on the outbound flight so I guess the Thai Cargo 777-F would also have a similiar takeoff but in daylight hours? |
Thai Cargo 777-F (N775SA) arrives on Tuesday 1500, departs 1700. But very subject to change because it's a freighter ;)

The 77F's are great but nowhere as good as watching the MD-11's depart at dusk(particulatly seeing the break dust) and they level off at 5,000ft before theyre even clear of the fence. It's the closest SYD will get to a space shuttle as far as im concerned.

Thanks for the info and pics. That freighter service hadn't hit my radar.

She goes out light most Monday nights. I gather EK are also starting a SUN service shortly the same route.

Does this new Sunday service replace the Monday service? or there is now 2 services a week?
|
Brian,
It increases to twice a week. The monday service remains an evening service. |
Ta mate, they must be doing well!

All freighter flights are MOSTLY driven by inbound demand. There is also another freight airline that could be joining Cargolux by pulling out of SYD in the very near future...... Time will tell if this happens or not!

Thai Cargo...

Looking at the Thai schedules the cargo flight has stopped.
However from May 15th the schedules are showing TG865 ETA 2005 arrives Tuesday TG866 ETD 0700 departs Wednesday's The site is showing a B74F (Which could imply a Southern Air Freighter, which Thai lease their B777F from). it doesn't look a passenger flight as both pax flights are there and plus they operate with a 4** flight number. This is just a theory that it could be a freighter, all info is from the Thai cargo scedules. |
Two points Stefan,
Thai retired their 2 of their oldest 744s a while ago, they might end up being operated by Southern Air as they were intended to join the Thai Cargo fleet this year. However many operators still using 747 classics refer to them as "747" "747F" "74F" in most cases trying to avoid using the "200" so there is a chance the Southern Air 747 classics might operate the flights. |
I have been told Thai Airways with convert two of their 744's into Frieghters within the next few months.
|
Thanks Shayne and Tim.
I was not aware of the conversion of the B744's. Hopefully these flights come true. |
Stefan, 747-400BCF confirmed and expected around May. TGH and TGJ(ex Royal Barge) are the two for conversion.

Great photo Chris.
