Etihad A346

I have heard that the next Etihad A340-600 to be delivered (A6-EHJ) will be painted in special Ferrari colours. Can anyone confirm this.

Rhys Xanthis 11th November 2008 03:59 PM

Considering their sponsorship of the Ferrari F1 Team as well as the Abu Dhabi GP starting next year, and Mubadala being a sponsor as well, it would not surprise me.

They have this A320 in F1 livery http://myaviation.net/search/photo_s...hp?id=01256340

But i can't find anything regarding A6-EHJ unfortunately. I would expect it to look very spectacular though! (Despite my support for Red Bull Racing:p)

Anthony J 11th November 2008 04:25 PM

It is test flying in Toulouse painted all white so a special scheme is to be expected.

Lets just hope it doesn't crash through a jetblast barrier before it makes it to the paintshop.

Dear all,

EH454 has a delayed arrival time of 2235 into Sydney tonight. So it will be departing at around 0700 tomorrow morning. For anyone who wants to photograph an A#46 of Etihad's tomorrow morning is the best oppurtunity.

Sarah C 8th January 2009 06:45 AM

And here is A6-EHJ in the F1 scheme:

thats one amazing livery hope to see it in sydney.

Peter Agatsiotis 8th January 2009 07:39 AM

Very nice scheme! The a/c was ferried to Abu Dhabi yesterday.

Remember the Qantas 747-400 that sported an F1 scheme many years ago?

I certainly do - VH-OJC, the city of Melbourne

And here is a nice photo from Sam Chui to jog the memory:

It was the first 744 I got to actually hand fly, in that scheme, in 2000. Nostalgia!

NickN 8th January 2009 08:40 AM

Anthony just out of curiosity and O/T. Do Qantas always have you on a 744? or do you fly other types as well? And do they tend to keep you on the same routes or do they differ all of the time? Just tell me if I am nosy I have just always been curious.

One fleet a a time (A380, B744, A330, B767 or B737). I was on the -400 from 2000 to 2002 and have been on the B767 ever since.

NickN 8th January 2009 10:20 AM

Which is more "fun" (If that is the best way to describe it?) the 744 or the 763?

Personally as a HUGE FSX fan I have the Level-D 763 and love it to death.

Anyone know Sam's whereabouts. Someone told me at the airport few days back hes moved back to Hong Kong- where he initially was from?

If so would be great loss as he was a great part of the Sydney Airport scene- i'm sure he will still visit but:)

I saw some reference to him moving to the USA

Nigel C 8th January 2009 01:19 PM

Ok, this one I'm impressed with.

phil.l 8th January 2009 02:38 PM

Hopefully it comes in on the morning service not the night time flight, very nice.

Mike W 8th January 2009 02:48 PM

I really like the Vignette(I think that's what the gradual tinting is between two colours) of the red to white. More Airlines should do this (Air NZ does it on the tails between the teal and the blue). It looks great.

Mark Grima 8th January 2009 02:54 PM

I am obviously out numbered here, but I don't think it is that great. More to the point, I don't like the checkered flag on the tail or the black engines with the F1 logo, although that is because I just don't like the F1 logo and most of its branding so, no hope there.

That said, if we find out in advnace when she is on here way to SYD I'll be there, camera in hand ;-)

I would think we would have a good chance of seeing her around the time of the MEL G.P.

Cheers

M

Grahame Hutchison 8th January 2009 07:32 PM

I saw Sam out at Bankstown Airport on the 1st November exhibiting at the Sydney Aviation Model and Memorabilia Show

Rhys Xanthis 10th January 2009 01:23 PM

I like the F1 logo, so personally the work on the engines do it for me.

I'm not a huge fan of the chequred flag on the back though either, Mark.

Sarah C 12th January 2009 07:30 AM

Just a note - apparently this aircraft will arrive on Tuesday into SYD (according to the Travel Daily). Not sure how reliable the information is.

Peter Agatsiotis 13th January 2009 07:23 AM

Spot on Sarah; EHJ arrived this morning as EY450.

Stefan Perkas 13th January 2009 07:24 AM

Morning all,

A6-EHJ arrived as EY451 this morning.

*Also MU565/566 will be operated by an A340-300 today.*

Darren Butterworth 13th January 2009 07:57 AM

Saw it over Annandale at about 7.10am, looked awesome descending through the low cloud.
Is it departing as EY451 at 3.20pm?

Cheers :)

James R 13th January 2009 08:17 AM

Currently sitting on the freight apron.

Nice looking scheme.

phil.l 13th January 2009 10:52 AM

Looks good any photo`s?

Gareth Forwood 13th January 2009 10:58 AM

It did indeed arrive this morning - unfortunately the weather wasn't all that good but still managed to get some ok pics!

Here she is on final to 16R

Dan Collins 13th January 2009 10:59 AM

Damn, why on a weekday?! Hopefully someone will get some photos of her. Hoping also she comes back every now and then :)

Edit - Gareth, thanks for posting that shot. Damn I didn't realise the weather was that bad this morning! The sun's shining out here in Penrith now, hopefully a nice sunny departure shot will surface too :)

Dan

Gareth Forwood 13th January 2009 11:03 AM

Unfortunately I can't get out there this arvo - hopefully this one will become a regular, I love the paint scheme!!

Sarah C 13th January 2009 11:24 AM

Thanks for the photo - the light wasn't great so hopefully the nice conditions out there stay for the departure.

Sarah C 13th January 2009 02:34 PM

Just departed - anyone at the beach would have got a nice view. It had one of the longest trip down the runway before rotating - it left of 34L but didn't start to rotate until it was in line with the Jetstar domestic terminal (not sure what taxiway it is).

I am sure it will be a regular visitor!

Dan Collins 13th January 2009 03:41 PM

Is there any way of knowing in advance if it will be coming in? I know it's about 14.5 hours between Abu Dhabi and Sydney, that's a lot of lead time to prepare!

Hopefully someone captured her at the beach, but I'd love to see her for real one day as well!

Dan

Dan

I spoke to a colleague of mine yesterday, and they said they often don't know until only a very short time before the thing actually lands (sometimes only 5 mins before).
