JQ A330s back to Qantas from next month
 

VH-EBS will be Qantas mainline operations from April with more Jetstar birds to follow, taken off loss making routes (JQ35 is being reduced in frequency as a start).

The 3K services will be first to go...

A whisper around is that the returned a/c might be in a hybrid livery. (Jetstar/Qantas) Will have to wait and see on this!

Hybrid livery would be ok, but what about the interior? Whilst yes EBS is more or less Qantas domestic spec, it no doubt has those orange colours on the bins and Jetstar seat covers. Maybe Qantas interior colours and hybrid exterior would be allright.

Hybrids and non standard aircraft without the usual interior or exterior brings inconsistency, just look at -XFA/B and generally negative publicity.

When -EBS returns to the QF domestic fleet they're best of converting it to the same specs as -EBV to keep things uniform.

Think you will find that internally, apart from some colour and seat covers it is the same as -EBO, EBP and EBV. As for -XFA and B the issue there is the product is different, whereas -EBS and the latter Qantas domestic A330's have the same product.

Look on the QF media page and you will find that all the A332's and A333's are being refurbed. (Including all the Jetstar ones)

Yes have a look at the press release. Do you see the date it is planned to start. Hmm yep late 2014, which is still 18 months away. So not going to 'help' an aircraft returning next month, and besides the aircraft in question is only 1-2 years old and with the latest Qantas A330 domestic config so don't see it needed a complete refit, just a soft change of covers etc.

Is there any news of EBS returning to QF? It arrived in MEL from DPS at 07.02 this morning

Believe -EBS has now been withdrawn from JQ service.

Not sure if it gone to Lufthansa Technik in Manila for paint or if it's gone to BNE.

EBS arrived in BNE this morning as JQ7992 from SYD.

VH-EBS currently operating QF6025 to Manila presumably for repaint?

Off to Lufthansa Technik for the reconfig.

Didn't the reconfig happen at BNE, and only paint needed in MNL?

There was a story going around that it also required an engine change.

Ebs is due back in Sydney tomorrow morning at 810am

There was a flight listed from Manila (QF6026) that arrived at 9.24am.
Was that EBS arriving back?
If so, does that now mean she didn't go to Lufthansa Technik for any work?

QF6026 from Manila this morning was indeed VH-EBS coming back.

I am fairly sure the repaint (and maybe some other work) was carried out by Lufthansa Technik as they have operations in the Philippines.

EBS operated QF577 today, anyone see a name on her?

VH-EBS is named "Swan Valley".

Saw EBS this arvo at Perth, it looked odd at first and then it occurred to me why...the Airbus A330 sticker is next to door 2R, makes the front look cluttered instead of being near 4R.

2x More JQ A332 must be on the way to QF early in the new year as the schedules show 1x A332 operating on the BNE-PER-BNE route in FEB with a second frame joining the BNE-PER-BNE route in MAR 2014.

I assume it will be VH-EBQ and VH-EBR as these are the only 2 at JQ that already feature in seat IFE.

Anyone know the exact dates?

I'm guessing it should be around late Dec/early Jan as JQ will be receiving VH-VKB/VKD by the end on the year. :o

Looks like the A332s will also appear on the SYD-BNE and BNE-SYD route from early next year.

So how many services per week will the A332s be operating MEL-SYD-MEL and BNE-SYD-BNE?

QF589/598 BNE-PER-BNE, A332 replaces B763 from Febraury 16 DAILY
QF767/652 BNE-PER-BNE, A332 replaces B763 from February 16 DAILY ex Sat
QF650/597 PER-BNE-PER, A332 replaces B763 from March 5 DAILY
QF651/594 BNE-PER-BNE, A332 replaces B763 from May 4 DAILY

Looks like the A332s will operate QF501/510 BNE-SYD-BNE DAILY ex Sat/Sun from May 5.

There're a couple of Saturday services on 501/510 in there too... forget the dates but it's only a few weeks.

What are the current domestic A332 services to/from MEL?

Does anyone have any idea when the next 332's (I guess Q and R) will be transferred to QF. Seeing that the new BNE/PER/BNE services commence on 16 February (2 return), and 4 March (1 return) requiring 2 aircraft, I would think that one of the two would have to back with QF for maintenance and painting in early January 2014.

I guess it depends on when VKB and VKD get into service.

Looks like EBQ is heading up to MNL for a repaint into QF mainland colours as JQ7994 can anyone confirm this?

Looks like they had already started as it has a white nose cone and a white engine cowling already :p

I think VH-EBQ is heading to BNE first for some conversion work before heading off for repainting.

VH-EBR should be next to follow in a few weeks.

It has been reconfigured and had the check. It is waiting for a paint slot at SIAEC.

Anyone know the rego of the next one? And when the next one will begin its reconfig?

They are not actually being reconfigured, just de Jetstared, so seat covers, removal of orange etc, bearing in mind the actual config was Qantas domestic spec anyway.

VH-EBR is next Brad. Will head up to BNE shortly.
