September Noteworthy Movements

Picking up Skytrans Dash 8 VH-QQM on SBS/Planeplotter on descent probably for SYD.

Max C 1st September 2011 01:11 PM

BNE-EMD-WOL-BNE

Brian Wilkes 1st September 2011 01:13 PM

Adhoc charter and or a weekly flight?

lloyd fox 1st September 2011 02:34 PM

Actually very interesting as i have noticed over past few weeks FIFO into BNE from WOL.In today's Courier Mail there is a article about Pelair SF340 flights have already commenced out of WOL to EMD via BNE.They have then said that QFlink are also planning 70 seater Q400 flights as well.

So it appears as though Skytrans have also jumped on the bandwagon as well.

From the SMH:
Quote:

QantasLink already operates 55 and 70-seater aircraft out of Illawarra and the council is in talks with The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) about approvals for larger aircraft after a study showed widening the Illawarra airstrip would allow 100-seater aircraft to land.
When did QF start back in Wollongong, and how can they be using 70-seaters if they're still working with CASA for an exemption!?

Max C 1st September 2011 04:38 PM

No current Q-Link service.

Jayden Laing 2nd September 2011 06:20 AM

Is there anything of note expected to be in Sydney tomorrow? Myself and a fellow Canberra spotter will be around tomorrow, keep an eye out for a white Lancer with ACT plates at the mound and beach.

Mark T 2nd September 2011 03:58 PM

VH-VZR, the latest QF B738 is currently overhead Wollongong en route to Melbourne as QF6024.

Cheers
Mark

Sarah C 2nd September 2011 06:02 PM

Another great shot Lee - would I be correct in saying this is the first A380 with a decal/special livery?

Shayne G 2nd September 2011 06:28 PM

Hi Sarah,

I don't think so, Qantas had VH-OQB wear an "We just love footy" decal for a very short time and Emirates A380 had A6-EDH wear an "6000th Airbus" decal. However all 'special decals' have been short lived, maybe this one will last a while :D

Jayden Laing 5th September 2011 08:19 AM

ANZ101/102 is being operated by ZK-NBW today.

Peter Agatsiotis 5th September 2011 04:57 PM

Mineralogy MD82 VP-CBH is on descent, presume SYD as Clive Palmer is on the panel of Q&A (ABC 9:35 pm) tonight.

Jaryd stock 5th September 2011 05:21 PM

Where are these MD-82's based?

Peter Agatsiotis 5th September 2011 05:29 PM

I think they are at BNE now (used to take up space at OOL)

Jaryd stock 5th September 2011 05:47 PM

Please let it be around tomorrow morning...

Brock Little 5th September 2011 05:57 PM

Yep based at BNE...wish we still had them here in OOL.

Tim Bowrey 5th September 2011 09:06 PM

Just departed back to Brisbane good to see a McDonnell Douglas aircraft...

matthew mcdonald 6th September 2011 03:31 PM

You mean apart from the MD-11's Jaryd?

hahahahaha.

Jaryd stock 6th September 2011 03:37 PM

Any MD aircraft are welcome to visit Sydney in my book Matty....

Nigel C 6th September 2011 03:52 PM

Impressive crime performanze must be a feature of MD aircraft...the Mineralogy bird gained altitude at a high rate of knots on departure.

James S. 6th September 2011 04:07 PM

Nice to hear the JT8D's again too, I was waiting to get picked up at school and heard a plane thinking that's pretty loud, and I saw the MD-82, and WOW it sure did gain altitude quickly!

Nice to see something different here in Sydney, hope we get it more often!

Brad Varney 6th September 2011 05:20 PM

Was there a southern air 7472 in today?

Jaryd stock 6th September 2011 05:30 PM

No....Not in during day anyways Brad. I was under 34R flight path on general homes drive and it was a great noise emanating from those engines on the MD-82...

Shayne G 6th September 2011 05:31 PM

No Brad, the flight the B742 would of operated has been delayed until 8:15pm. It was also scheduled to route through Adelaide before heading back to Kuala Lumpur, it might be cancelled for today.

Jaryd stock 6th September 2011 05:39 PM

Just wondering if anyone know's if SOO9525 Southern 772F is full when it leaves here to go back to Bangers ?

matthew mcdonald 6th September 2011 05:45 PM

When I was talking to the people loading it the first time it came in they said it was chockers coming in and out, so I would say yes.

Sarah C 6th September 2011 05:56 PM

VH-VZR operated its first service today as QF406 from MEL.

Jaryd stock 6th September 2011 06:00 PM
