(QF412) Go-Around Rwy 16R 10/8/12 @ 0957
Had a QF Flight go around late on approach. Heard the engines spool up to 100% (at ~200m away) and a fairly substantial climb was performed. Couldn't see much out of the window but did see the QANTAS livery.
FT suggests it is QF82, YPAD > YSSY. Can't see anything else on the map. |
Was QFA412 B738 VH-VZA
Thanks Carl. Do we have a reason?
And there goes QF420 also!
And the Air Pacific 747 too.... (edit: FJI911)
3 missed approaches in a row!
And another QF flight.... Just fired up LiveATC on the iPhone.
And JQ508 goes around...
48 knot crosswind at the southern end of the field..... wow.
I am at Mascot now, the wind is simply amazing. The crews today will earn their money thats for sure.

Seems like most of the crews have a handle on it now, wind has definitely abated since earlier but it's picking up again.
That said, a Virgin pilot just mentioned he was 'still recovering from that one' on handover to Deps. Must have dipped hard after rotation. Tower asked if they bumped heads, but got no response. lol. I'm sitting a block from Sydenham Station. QF428 just reported extreme overshoot shear. |
Another QANTAS plane has gone around.
QF64 go-around, hard wind shear @ 1000'
I was watching the arrivals from my aircraft today (I was on DJ830) I saw a QF 767 go around and DJ552 get thrown around in the wind.
JQ go around on 16R.
Some great banter on the ATC frequency today.
TWR: QF577, Sorry can't get you off in this gap, QF64 at 6 miles. QF577: Tower, QF577, that's okay, I have been enjoying the view of the grass. TWR: Hey, it's his second go, we won't say too much. QF64: Hey, I am listening. |
Virgin 1533 Go around R16R, E190.
China Eastern 561 - Going around.
Another QF go-around, Missed the callsign. 1613 local, 16R.
A lot of aircraft in holding patterns - out over the ocean, to the south west, and north of Sydney.
Directly under flight path at school. Today the wild weather brought down trees and it look like a few planes almost did to. Definite wind shere and bad cross winds saw a qantas 767 get hit this morning as the nose alarmingly drop
fun spotting kind regards callum |
Still a little challenging today ...
