A surprise first visit today from the Royal Flying Doctor Service Pilatus PC-12NG VH-FXZ, operating a patient transport mission from Adelaide to Sydney - This aircraft was the 1,500th off the production line and is based in South Australia.

Nice catch and great photos! Saw it on my ADS-B feed (intranet only). Have had two visit WGA and this one would be great to see!
|
Thanks Robert, it's a beautiful aircraft, and the Patient Stretcher unloading system is very good.

Well, I thought five Airbus A380s from five different Airlines in the one DSLR shot was difficult, however I achieved this back in January. This morning the planets aligned once again, but this time it was 6 A380s from 6 different Airlines at Sydney Airport. If the departing Korean A380 had taxied just a couple of minutes earlier, a 7 A380 7 Airline shot may have been on.

The USAF Boeing B757-200 (C-32A) 99-0003 departed this morning, after arriving late on Saturday night. They taxied past Shep's Mound on CHARLIE and then departed off Runway 34L - and they were up early.

This morning's SQ221 SIN-SYD service was operated by the latest Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 9V-SKV, only delivered one week ago. This was its first commercial service, and only the second A380 to be fitted with the all new SQ Cabin configuration.

See if you can go for 8 Grahame, MH are running A380 flights into Sydney from 12 Feb to 1 Mar on MH122/123 |
I always have an eye out for the shot Mark, there is a lot of luck involved, especially for 7 or 8, and you can only do it when the summer seasonal services are operating - about a month to go.
|
I was lucky enough to be on SQ221 that arrived this morning. :) As soon as we boarded in Singapore I asked if this was one of the new A380s. The chief purser proudly announced that it was and this was to be its first commercial flight. The captain also announced this before we left the gate when he advised us that four checked in passengers had not boarded and they had to find and offload their luggage, hence the late arrival into Sydney.
The aircraft was like getting into a new car with it being so fresh, vibrant and untouched. I took a photo and smudged the inside window perspex and felt as though I had to wipe it clean to keep it sparkling clean. Ha ha. It wasn't until we turned onto final that I saw how fresh the paintwork looked and how shiny the wing was in the full sun. I'm not sure what the full differences are in the cabin but the aircraft has slimline seats with a different entertainment setup and the toilets look modular and possibly bigger. A very nice aircraft to fly in. |
A rare catch at Sydney Airport this morning as Samoa Airlines Boeing B738 I-NEOS departed at 1020L, after an unscheduled overnight stay. Normally arriving at 2019L and departing at 2132L, the delay provided some rare sunshine shots of the aircraft in Sydney.

Yesterdays VH-FGB returning to BNE after some TLC in DRW.

VH-FGB, along with 2 other Alliance F100s, should be passing through SYD tomorrow (Sunday) mid afternoon, if of interest to anyone.
|
Alliance Fokker 100 VH-FGB was in Sydney yesterday afternoon, showing off the "90th Anniversary" livery, recognising the first Trans Pacific flight, led by Sir Charles Kingsford Smith. Alliance only serve Newstead Brewing FGB Beer onboard their Fokker 100 VH-FGB, and its "Fokkin’ Good Beer" apparently.

Is that a Boeing B757 I see at Sydney Airport - A rare visitor for sure, operating another of the Abercrombie & Kent luxury world charters. 26 Days New York-Havana-Bogota-Easter Island-Apia-Sydney so far. The B757-27BER has 50 Lay-Flat 1st Class Seats, and is owned Icelandair.

I don't know if Joe Sutter ever made it to Sydney, however he was here in Spirit this afternoon. Joe led the Boeing Design Team on the B747 Project, and was affectionately known as "The Father Of The B747”. UPS named their 1st B747-8F N605UP "Spirit Of Joe Sutter", and it made its first visit to Sydney Airport today. RIP Joe (1921-2016), the B747 was a job well done.

While the Abercrombie & Kent Boeing B757 was resting on the KILO Apron at Sydney Airport for a couple of days, the passengers on this luxury tour were off helicopter sightseeing in the Blue Mountains today - Note the A&K logo in the cockpit windows.

No pistons for them, eh?
Thanks yet again for your pics Grahame! |
This morning it was onto the next destination for the Abercrombie & Kent Luxury Tour group. Icelandair Boeing B757-200 TF-FIW departed Sydney Airport for Yangon (Rangoon) in Myanmar, via Denpasar - Not the best weather, but hope they enjoyed their time in Sydney.

Nice photos Grahame, not often you can get the Toll during the daylight hours. ;)
Photo is a bit meh (was taken with very little time to adjust settings, so blurred is noticed at higher resolution). McDermott Aviation (P2-MSA) Bell 214B departs Wagga Wagga Airport and heading north yesterday. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4755/...6bf20f2b_b.jpg |
Thanks Robert, great to see you caught the new Rex Saab VH-ZXU - I am still chasing it.
There was a surprise on the helipad at Sydney Airport today, when Queensland based Corporate Aviation Bell 429 VH-EQP paid a visit - and what a great looking machine the 429 is. http://www.16right.com/Aircraft-Imag...180301-002.jpg http://www.16right.com/Aircraft-Imag...180301-020.jpg http://www.16right.com/Aircraft-Imag...180301-045.jpg http://www.16right.com/Aircraft-Imag...180301-004.jpg http://www.16right.com/Aircraft-Imag...180301-047.jpg http://www.16right.com/Aircraft-Imag...180301-049.jpg http://www.16right.com/Aircraft-Imag...180301-059.jpg |
Fine looking helicopter! Nice photos Grahame!
You'll be disappointed that VH-ZXQ is no longer pink! In the paint shop being stripped and painted in REX livery! |
Thanks Robert, I will keep an eye out for VH-ZXQ

FedEx 75 returned to Sydney tonight from western Queensland, and called PAN on approach with one engine shutdown. They were cleared to land 1 minute before curfew. When they spoke to the Fire Commander on the ground, they said there was a fuel leak from the No.2 engine. Tenders 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 9, plus CAR 2, 3,10 and Spill Truck 39 were in attendance.

The RAAF E-7A Wedgetail A30-002 (Callsign WGTL07) performed a "Published Missed Approach" to Runway 34R at Sydney Airport this morning. The aircraft departed Williamtown, completed the missed approach at Sydney, then headed to Canberra and Nowra, before returning home to Williamtown. There was scattered low cloud around Sydney Airport this morning.

The beautiful Cessna 208B Grand Caravan N5420C Demonstrator visited at Sydney Airport today, making the short trip over from Bankstown. Seen here departing DOM5 on a Demonstration Flight, before heading back to Bankstown.

Qantas Airbus A380 VH-OQD arrived back at Sydney Airport this morning as QFA6054, after heading to Dubai as QFA6053 on 25FEB18 for a landing gear replacement. Under a new Qantas/Emirates deal, the Emirates Aircraft Appearance Centre in Dubai will also repaint eight QF A380s in the new livery.
No repaint for VH-OQD on this visit to Emirates Dubai. Seen here on short final for Runway 16R at Sydney Airport. http://www.16right.com/Aircraft-Imag...180314-263.jpg http://www.16right.com/Aircraft-Imag...180314-267.jpg http://www.16right.com/Aircraft-Imag...180314-272.jpg |
The Japan Airlines JAL772 B789 Dreamliner took a little longer than expected to start rolling on Runway 16R this morning at Sydney Airport, forcing a "Go Around" for Garuda Indonesia A330 PK-GPT - Second time around it was a perfect landing by Garuda.

Lovely new landing gear on OQD. We will have to wait a bit longer for the new QANTAS livery on an A380. Brilliant photos Grahame capturing the low level go round which I watched on 16R. Reminds me of when the Fokkers used to do navaid testing with very late go rounds. Thanks again for making 16R available to us spotters.

Thanks James, There was plenty of action yesterday, and the RAAF Wedgetail Missed Approach was a highlight.

Great photos Grahame! I missed getting a photo of a missed approach by the RAAF Boeing P-8A Poseidon at WGA a week or so ago.

Thanks for the update Robert, a great selection of visitors, and from the windsock, just a bit windy. Nice to see the Wirraway and Mustang.

Robert,
Does the Macchi in the back of the VH-HBZ photo belong to the RAAF training school ? |
