Ex Qantas 767-200ER for sale
http://www.controller.com/listings/a...110C074A966330
Anybody know what the old rego was for this one? I assume this was sold due to the arrival of the A330's? I also noticed this aircaft was configured 60 business seats and 90 economy, isn't that alot of business seats for a Qantas setup? |
B767-238, VH-EAO c/n 23403 l/n 0137, entered service with QANTAS in March 1986.
It was withdrawn in July 2004 and flown to Mojave, California for storage. |
nick c/n23403 line number 137 is ex vh-eao
|
thanks for the quick replies guys!
Any ideas on the 60/90 seat config? Sounds like alot of business seats for what I normally recall see on Qantas 767's |
Woops, trigger finger !
I last noted it in storage but it appears to have been subsequently purchased and the new operator probably changed the seating configuration as the 60 Business, 90 Economy was certainly not QANTAS when I flew on it ! Could this be the 767 purchased by the founders of Google as I vaguely remember reading that they did purchase an ex Qantas 767 which would be reconfigued as an Executive jet ? |
Ex MAXJET aircraft!
|
bobby google did purchased a qantas b767 vh-eaq c/n23896 whjch is now n2767
|
the ex Maxjet is in storage at Victorville and its not the same a/c, saw it in January but it was impossible getting a shot of her. This bird that is for sale was meant to operate for Gadair European but I am pretty certain it never ended up with them. N774WD is its current rego and as mentioned it was VH-EAO with QF.
ex Maxjet is N250MY aka VH-EAL cn-23306 |

http://www.airlinerlist.com Apparently the former "City of Cairns" (EAO) was sold by QF to a US company called West Dover LLC (A Lessor I think) however its been in storage the whole time and hasn't seen airliner service since Qantas. This Photo Remark dated 03/10/2006 suggests the aircraft was almost leased/sold to Gadair European but obviously didn't eventuate. J |
Thanks for the info guys.
I had to attend a meeting earlier this evening so was unable to complete my research. |
A cool US$12million is the asking price..........

i thought the aircraft going to Gadair was an ex ansett, was there 2 going to Gadair?
|
Hi Jamie
Correct - the former Ansett B767, VH-RMF, was intended for Gadair and was leased by them on 12/7/06. It was painted up in full Gadair colours but the deal fell through and the aircraft returned to the lessor, Wells Fargo Bank in late 2006 or early 2007. It was subsequently purchased by the Dallas Mavericks Ownership Group (basketball team) on 16/2/07 for use as a "luxury airborne coach" and is configured with 100 first class type seats, two lounges and two bars ! I believe it's registered N767MW. The only other ex Ansett B767-200 still flying is the former VH-RMG which is now EI-CXZ and operated by Transaero of Russia. The others, VH-RMD, E, H, K, L and O have all been broken up. |

Makes a grown man weep what happened to Ansett!
Shame to hear most of their 767's are now scrap metal. out of curiosity, that ex-QF 767 for sale appears to have a hell of alot of cycles on it, how much longer would one expect an aircraft of that vintage to stay serviceable? |
