AN-124 Sydney
An Antonov 124 callsign ADB284F has just arrived at Sydney, parked at Bay 2A.
|
Any idea when its leaving?
|
This would happen on the one day I don't have a car.....
|
I'll second that one Gareth!!
Any idea what its in for? Depending when its leaving i might want to go out and have a look From webtrak it looks like it came from Williamtown? Wouldn't have been the one that was meant to arrive on Sunday at Willie was it? |
It arrived from Williamtown and will depart after dark.
It's collecting various freight. |
Thanks, again Nigel. In that case i'll have found a car by then and have been stuck with the night shift so doesn't looks like i'll be going out. May be a stupid question, but anyone get any pictures of it for the not so fortunate who can't be there? ;)
|
Thanks for the info Nigel.
I've found a lift, so there should be a couple of us out there by around 3ish. Where's the best place to go to get a good view of the cargo bays - I've tried intl obs deck but there are too many light poles in the way. Cheers. |
When I'm on the other side of the fence I tend not to look in, and I rarely travel on Airport Drive to know where you can and can't go. Sorry.
|
T3 you can get decent pics. I got about 80 pics so one better be good:rolleyes:
Rego: UR-82073 Well its still there. I waited until about 10pm wearing shorts and a t-shirt for it to come up on clearance delivery and it didnt happen. Its all closed up and looks ready to rock and roll. |
Pretty bad light and not a great angle for a decent pic.
|
Not a bad pic Tim, thanks for putting it up.
Any idea what it was picking up/dropping off? |

Wow, very exotic cargo indeed lol.
Hmm if it was later in the morning i'd consider going out but only just finsihed work and can't be bothered getting up that early. |

HL7417 was the Asiana in yesterday, so could well be in again today.
The wooden crates you can see in the picture were holding 100mm conduits. I'm not sure what else they were going to load. It was probably one of the shabbiest looking An124's I've seen come in. The crew told us it was 18 years old and it has obviously had a busy life, including doing many runs into Baghdad and Kandahar, although these have dried up somewhat since the Obama administration took over. I got a quick look upstairs, and like all the other An124's I've been in it has the cold blue cockpit interior. |

It actually went to Perth as it is due into there at around 1100(WST). |
According to Asiana's timetable the 747 will only be operating unitl next sunday when it will go back to 777's.
Please correct me if I'm wrong. |

The Sydney load is probably a back-load they managed to pick up. |
Thanks for the info Andrew, Stefan and Nigel.
Does this mean that the one that was due tomorrow night into Williamtown is still due to come in or was that one it? |
It's still a pretty amazing thing to watch on takeoff ...........

It is indeed. What time did it end up taking off? I Checked webtrak but i didnt see it around the 6 oclock mark. Great shot Lee.
|
Gerald,
It pushed at 0815 and departed at 0900 .... 0600 was probably vodka time!:D |
Only a full 12 hours after they said they were going to depart! Typical Russian timing!:p

Thanks Lee. After all that i could have been there, but i decided it was better to stay in bed :p.
So i'm confused now Andrew, there is still another one coming into Willie tomorrow night? |
Couple of my efforts from today, most were ruined by the security lighting.
Perfect day, great to catch up with everyone. Attachment 668 Attachment 669 Darren |

Ah k thanks Andrew. And i don't know how people do but if they feel like sharing their secrets as to how they know of these sort of flights (these being the civilian and military cargo flights which aren't run of the mill), i'm all ears...i always here about them too too late.
Cheers Gerard |
Great photos Darren! It was a perfect morning for it! I was listning to "ADB1610" on ATC from my bedroom:) I really should have come out but I had soccer:(
|
Was just leaving for Bankstown when I heard a rumble in the skies and saw the An-124 heading westbound. Woke everyone up running upstairs to get my camera and take some snaps.
The pics are worthless, but thought I'd share anyway. Sorry for the blur and all. Still, glad to finally say I've seen an Antonov with my own eyes now! http://www.400scalehangar.net/forums...pictureid=7095 Pictures taken from Woodcroft (near Blacktown), where we're priveliged to see a lot of the western departures. Hi All,
Antonov Design Bureau An-124 UR-82073 arrived 11.33hrs ex: YSSY as ADB1610, is currently parked at the Intl terminal's bay 50. Cheers Greg |
Is she overnighting like the last one did? Would make the effort to get down to the airport if she'll be doing a departure on Sunday morning (in the daylight hours).
Dan |
Yes, is she still here; I'd pretty much do anything to get out there if such is the case.
Edit: 82073 was the Friday Antonov, how could it get up to DRW and back in under 8 hours. I am confused, very confused. Edit II: Wait when you say ex do you mean originating in SYD? Why would it turn back? If it is broken, it may be here for a while; my head is spinning from confusion. |
The An-124 departed Perth at 01.17hrs to Kandahar (Afghanistan) via Male
as flight ADB1610, it was planned to have departed earlier but was delayed. Q: Does anyone know its inbound flight number into Williamtown ??? I've got the flight number into YSSY. Cheers Greg |
Please refrain from quoting the whole previous post in your message. Thank you - mod
Thanks heaps Greg, I knew in my heart if I went out it'd be another wild goose chase. I wish the CANforce still used 124s I am going back to visit some family in a couple weeks and YEG used to get them by the truckload, now we just get IL-76s. One day I'll see a 124. |
Bernie L,
No problems on the details. Wished we saw more IL-76s but these days one must travel abroad to see these workhorses. Cheers Greg |
