VH-OQD on a few websites has late July:confused:

Malcolm Parker 22nd July 2009 05:32 PM

VH-QOD is still in Hamburg at the moment, but should be flying onto Toulouse any day now, so within the next few days should be on its way to delivery to QF after pre delivery inspections.

Apologies i am sure you all know what i meant.
Flight to TLS looks like being pushed back to late this week/Monday. So I wouldn't expect the delivery flight until the last day or so into Australia. Still too early to say, cannot get reasons for delay.

Anthony J 23rd July 2009 04:03 PM

Mid August.

Oliver Gigacz 23rd July 2009 11:45 PM

Delays have once again pushed delivery. It will most likely be delivered on the 13 or 14th of August.

Tim Bowrey 18th August 2009 07:20 PM

Apparently due in at 6:05pm on Monday night the 24th August.

My birthday present - how nice! But will it alleviate the Queue Future?

Terminal 1 in Melbourne seems to have had inordinately long queues at security screening since the weekend - is that QF staffing or Melbourne Airport or who? On Sunday there were three lines each up to 100 metres long. It took me 28 mins to get to the x-ray conveyor - luckily I had plenty of time. A colleague had a similar experience yesterday afternoon. Previously I've only had that kind of thing in the US.

Oliver Gigacz 20th August 2009 12:22 PM

Current sources are still delivery is for August 26th.

Anthony J 20th August 2009 02:14 PM

First revenue slated to be QFA0031 on the 29th.

Fred C 23rd August 2009 02:42 PM

VH-OQD has already left the factory and is enroute to SIN. Should arrive Monday morning approx 0700hrs. I think it is the QFA 6002. Cameras at the ready.:D

andrew evans 23rd August 2009 05:01 PM

Now 0710 due to 55 minute added delay in SIN. Due to depart SIN at 2355 AEST, was original due out at 2300.

Benny Zheng 23rd August 2009 10:52 PM

Nice work Gareth. Fast too. Posted only and ready for us to enjoy only 30 minutes after landing (according to the Airport Internationals Arrivals page)

Philip Argy 24th August 2009 07:55 AM

Great work, Gareth!

You certainly get the prize for the first to post, and an excellent shot too, Gareth.

Noel White 29th August 2009 04:57 PM

Sorry Chris, 9V-SKI has been darkening our skies since 16 July according to my log.

Michael Atkin 29th August 2009 09:32 PM

I was going to say the same thing. Quite a contrast to yesterday's 31 which didn't rotate unitl 07/25. Must've been windy today

Kieran Wells 30th August 2009 04:10 PM

Nice afternoon out there yesterday. Managed to go over to the fence line for a while, and got some nice photos(9V-SKI) and then went back to the carpark to get photos of Fergus. I've put 60 photos from yesterday including the Thai and BA pilots waving at us at the fenceline up:

Here is Qantas's 6th A380 (MSN029) in outfitting in Hamburg. She will be delivered in October.

Philip Argy 7th September 2009 11:27 AM

Deferred delivery?

The website refers to May 2010 deferred delivery of two A380 a/c for QF - if they're so much more efficient to operate, doesn't it make sense to take them as soon as they can be delivered?

Daniel F 7th September 2009 12:34 PM

A Prius is cheaper to run than a Falcondore... but that doesn't mean people should be rushing out to buy a Prius...

Philip Argy 7th September 2009 12:44 PM

Surely if it allows better yields and also phasing out of a/c that are more costly to operate, it makes sense.

Not sure about the Prius analogy - are you saying the deferral of purchase price is a bigger factor? The leasing costs are all part of the operating profits equation, no question, but does anyone know how the A380 operating profits compare to the a/c it could be replacing?

Am I wrong in assuming they would be superior?

Michael Mak 7th September 2009 12:59 PM

One of the reasons is probably to preserve capital.

Yes there 7th and 8th A380s MSN047 and MSN050 have both flown and are now stored in flightline hangers in Toulouse until MSN047 will be ferried in April and MSN050 in May. Before delivery in November and December 2010. After that will be MSN055 following in 2011 (First pics here: http://a380production.com/2009/09/5-4/ )
But of course we still have MSN027 and MSN029 both scheduled for delivery in October 09.

Brenden S 7th September 2009 01:32 PM

Oli, that was F, so where is E?

Based on what Qantas is doing then I think the answer to that question is yes. I'm sure Qantas would have crunched the numbers and picked the option that gives the best return.

OQE is in another outfitting hanger on the other side. There is a webcam which you can just make out a Qantas A380. It is here. But you can only see it being Qantas when it is dark.
OQE should come onto the flightline next week.
