MASkargo switch to Southern Air

The 1st of May saw contract held by Air Atlanta to ops MASkargo flights expire. Southern Air took over the contract (reportedly only until the end of the year)

Today's MH6201 is being ops by 743F.

Bob C 4th May 2010 04:42 AM

Thanks Liam ; interesting news so there might be a chance we will see a B777F of Southern Air at some stage.

Stefan Perkas 4th May 2010 08:51 AM

Morning all,

MH6201 was operated by N789SA today.

Tim Bowrey 4th May 2010 09:10 AM

Hey Stefan can you comfirm its just in an all white scheme?

Stefan Perkas 4th May 2010 09:29 AM

Hi Tim,

I'm not sure, the last photo of it I found in March 2010, it was all white. but I don't no if it has titles on it or not.

Michael Dawson 4th May 2010 09:36 AM

If this is the case of Southern Air doing the contract then the one you may want to keep an eye out for is N704SA as seen below at LAX in November 2009.

Sarah C 4th May 2010 09:42 AM

The one that arrives this morning was all white - no markings that I could see from a distance. It didn't match Michael's photo.

This aircraft is ex Focus Air and Atlas as N354MC and also Varig as PP-VNH.

Karl M 4th May 2010 10:58 AM

Thanks for the info Liam.
Wonder how long this contract will last, as MAS will get there own A330F's in a few years, to run along side the 744F.

Peter Agatsiotis 4th May 2010 11:51 AM

Good timing! Was out in the garden and heard this a/c - quite noisy and saw the 743 overhead at around 11:40. Quick check of the SBS log confirmed N789SA.

Jayden Laing 4th May 2010 01:29 PM

Here is a shot of it arriving this morning.

NO you wont, those are on lease or will be leased to THAI Cargo!

Tony G 4th May 2010 03:28 PM

Nice shot Jayden. Does anyone know if they also have DC8s 70 series? If so is there a chance of seeing them out.

Lee G 4th May 2010 06:16 PM

Thought I saw a 743 departing of 34Left from the office window ... looked twice - thought it was TF-AAA/B then noticed the Extended Upper Deck and no winglets.

Unfortunately they do not. Only 747's and the 77F's that are leased to Thai Cargo.

Bob C 5th May 2010 04:31 AM

Thanks Brian ; I was aware of the lease to Thai but read that Southern may be getting some more B777Fs.

There are a couple in storage so perhaps Southern may have its eyes on those airframes. And Air France is reassessing its cargo ops and has already sold two B777Fs to FedEx so perhaps that may be another source.

Sexy lookin 777's I must admit:p

Morris Biondi 5th May 2010 08:27 PM

Sorry to spoil the party, but N704SA which was the colourful aircraft somebody posted earlier in the thread, is now in an all white scheme, i photographed her on my recent trip to LAX.

John Thoroughgood 6th May 2010 12:23 AM

I shot N704SA on December 2 last at LAX wearing the colours, so I am now considering myself a lucky guy. LOL
Cheers John

phil.l 9th May 2010 08:24 AM

Anyone know which aircraft operated yesterday flight?

Noel White 9th May 2010 01:29 PM

N789SA did the service, landed at 0915 and departed at 1255.

phil.l 10th May 2010 03:36 PM

Thanks Noel.

Brian Wilkes 10th May 2010 03:53 PM

Should not be long untill it has MASkargo decals on it I would say?

Stefan Perkas 11th May 2010 07:33 AM

Morning all,

Todays flight MH6201 is to be operated by a B747-200. Rego is N783SA. Eta of around 0815.

phil.l 11th May 2010 03:54 PM

Anyone get a shot of N783SA?

Lee G 11th May 2010 10:02 PM

phil.l 11th May 2010 10:22 PM

Nice shot Lee thanks for posting.(thats the one i saw over Engadine Pete)

Tony G 11th May 2010 11:03 PM

When is the next one due Saturday?

Peter Agatsiotis 11th May 2010 11:12 PM

Looks like it Tony as per last week; same a/c on Tue & Sat.

Cheers Phil; I took a shot at home as it passed overhead, hard to pick up the yellow trim. Excellent shot Lee.

Jayden Laing 12th May 2010 08:02 AM

Anyone happening to grab some photos of VH-ZRM arriving into YSSY yesterday about 11am. If so, could I please have a copy of the photo. I was on that flight (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ep07DW0hHPA)

Nigel C 12th May 2010 08:09 AM

Why? Was ZRM in the belly of the MASKargo bird? That's the only way I can link these 2 topics:confused:

Jayden Laing 12th May 2010 10:17 AM

No Nigel. Phil.L asked if anyone got a shot of N738SA yesterday. ZRM arrived a couple of minutes before N738SA departed so I asked the question here instead of making a new POINTLESS thread ;)

Stefan Perkas 18th May 2010 08:23 AM

Morning all,

MH6207 this morning is to be operated B742 N761SA.

Tony G 18th May 2010 08:29 AM

Can you do anything about the weather Stefan?:p

NeilP 18th May 2010 08:54 AM

Anyone know the schedule? I might pop down if the weather clears later...

Peter Agatsiotis 18th May 2010 09:07 AM

Can't find MH6207 on FlightStats but there is MH6203 delayed till 10am so this could be it or one of MasKargo's kites!

From the last two Tuesday's logs it would normally leave between 11am and 1130 but they both came in a lot earlier.

Weather is clearing in some parts so could turn out okay.

Peter Agatsiotis 18th May 2010 09:25 AM

Now on PP approx 180nm northwest of SYD so looks like an arrival at around 10am so may go out about 12:30 -1pm. N761SA confirmed.
