G'day all
Just watched a video on youtube which was done recently which briefly showed what appeared to be one of qantas old 747-300. This got me wondering as to what has happened to them? Dose anybody know where they ahave all gone?

EBT - has been scrapped at RME, New York State.

EBU - still in Avalon, never to fly again.

EBV - It was sold to Al Sayegh Airlines in November 2010.

EBW - has a new rego, N176SG, which belongs to the Bank of Utah

EBX - Not sure - still think it is stored in Marana but has been purchased.

EBY - got a new rego a month ago (XT-SAG). There was a picture of it in Oagadougou in Burkina Faso.

On a similar note, checking a.net this morning as part of my usual routine and I noticed these 3 ex-QF 744s at Victorville:

Just wondering, were these the first few QF 744s to be replaced by the A380 coming online? And if so, is QF gradually phasing out the 744 fleet as the a/c are starting to age?

Having a look at the fleet age of QF's current 744s here: http://www.airfleets.net/flottecie/Q...ctive-b747.htm I assume VH-OJA would be the next candidate to be stored/sold/scrapped, followed by VH-OJB, OJC, etc???

It would be nice to have one of these at Longreach. 2x preserved 747's would be crowd pullers for the museum. I maybe dreaming here, but it would be nice nonetheless.

I don't think many people realise how much space is NOT at Longreach. Unless you want to move the businesses which reside next to where the other 2 aircraft are, then there's not really anywhere else that's suitable to place another large aircraft.

They've got 2 of the most important aircraft in Qantas' history, no use putting more there which aren't really that much more significant than the others.

I realise this, but wishful thinking.

Space is one restriction at Longreach but they are currently planning a major development of the airport, the Museum and the GA area. It is a significant project they hope to complete by 2020. They plan to have room for more aircraft but this is a long term thing, not a short one.

......Maybe they could display the left wing of -OQA after it is replaced??? :D

It would make a nice cover for the 747 or 707 :p

a quick search on airliners.net shows very recent photos of the ex vh-eby in Burkina faso and also the ex vh-ebv in Cyprus.... bother still in the basic qantas schemes they left our shores in

I obtained a photo from January 2010 earlier this year which showed all 4 of the Qantas 743's that were sent to the desert. Three of them were in good condition however one had it's engines removed, parts of the flaps taken off etc almost like it's being used for spares or about to be scrapped. This may be EBX.

A update on VH-EBV.

It was registered a while back as N175SG for Al Sayegh Airlines. It is now registered for Centrafrique Air Express as XT-DMA.
