Tiger Airways changes logo & name.

BUDGET carrier Tiger Airways is ditching its famous leaping tiger logo and undergoing a name change as part of a bid to bring the airline into a "new era".

The first aircraft flying under the new name, Tigerair, and colour is to be displayed in Melbourne this morning as CEO Rob Sharp reveals more details of the "revival" of the airline.

The previous tiger logo is being replaced with what the airline has called a "distinctive and contemporary new logo ... embodying the key elements of Tigerair's personality: warm, passionate and genuine". It spells out the airline's new name in grey writing, with some organe sections.

The airline is also unveiling a new-look website.

I personally like the new logo design.

David Knudsen 3rd July 2013 11:12 AM

I don't mind it, looks very European to me.

Brandon Giacomin 3rd July 2013 11:13 AM

Looks like VH-VNQ is in the new titles, a photo can be found here.

Looks quite nice. New website looks good too!

Jacob L 3rd July 2013 11:16 AM

Agreed

The black and yellow works, maybe something different on the tail though????

JamesL 3rd July 2013 12:18 PM

Aircraft is VNQ operating MEL-ASP-MEL-CNS-MEL today

Michael R 3rd July 2013 04:01 PM

Certainly seem to have bounced back. Not too many negative comments form the travelling public anymore. If only they had rights to fly international routes from the Eastern States to the South Pacific.

Radi K 3rd July 2013 06:45 PM

LOL you always have to ask "why" .. must keep someone in middle management employed!

Thomas Collins 3rd July 2013 07:36 PM

New brand, same unprofitable business underneath...

D Chan 3rd July 2013 09:35 PM

the new brand's font don't match the tail all that well in my opinion, to me it's a bit of a mismatch of styles and to be honest they've used a boring font (the font itself hardly looks exciting) - they could've jazzed up the 'tiger' in the font with the tiger stripes

Oh but come this month they will ;)

Justin L 4th July 2013 05:07 AM

I'm assuming South Pacific rights this month due to the tie up with VA?

On that assumption, I'd assume Tigerair take over some thin VA routes but are we likely to see new routes also?

Radi K 4th July 2013 07:43 AM

Heard the livery is actually stickers and already started peeling off by the time they arrived in ASP!

Steve S... 2 4th July 2013 08:57 AM

I wondered about the stickers.

Because VH-VNQ was flying around everyday in the lead up to the rollout and paint wouldn't dry overnight!?

JamesL 4th July 2013 12:28 PM

Radi, confirmed, however I haven't heard anything to do with that yet...

And....;)

Well done Tiger(air)!

Thomas Collins 5th July 2013 08:28 AM

They're decals.

NathanJ 9th July 2013 05:41 AM

VNQ was in Sydney yesterday minus the new paint job. ;)

Michael R 21st February 2014 02:09 PM

Anyone know exactly how many aircraft in the new livery?

Steve S... 2 21st February 2014 03:08 PM

Only aircraft in new livery that I knew of were:

VH-VNC
VH-VND
VH-VNR

With VH-VNQ having the new titles, but still with the old tail colours.

Lukas M 21st February 2014 07:18 PM

add VH-VNH just back from Manila.

VH-VNF painted back next week from Manila.

VNJ/P leases are not far away from renewal either, so not sure if they will return and replace with newer TR aircraft.

Tiger Phil are just about to return 5 aircraft to back to TR so who knows.

JamesL 21st February 2014 08:02 PM

VNH is hiding in the BaE hanger at the moment with a few issues.

NathanJ 24th February 2014 08:32 AM

VNH is out and about now.

Jamie D 26th February 2014 06:44 AM

I flew vnh yesterday from asp to Mel, she is certainly looking very fresh in her new outfit

Lukas M 1st March 2014 10:47 AM

Next one VH-XUG

Alex T 1st March 2014 10:56 AM

No Sharklets either... :(

Michael R 1st March 2014 11:31 AM

Can anyone advise if Australia registered Tiger aircraft will receive sharklets or only Singapore based.

JamesL 1st March 2014 02:44 PM

They will, its just a matter of when the order changes.

Leth Armitage 1st March 2014 05:37 PM

Tiger Airways Singapore has been sporting this new logo on its jets for a while now, seen in and out of YPPH on a regular basis. Its good to see the Australian side catching up. I quite like the look of the new logo, way better than the old one.

JamesL 2nd March 2014 07:27 PM

Leth, Tigerair Sin and Tigerair Aus both launched the new brand at the same time, at the current stage 5/12 aircraft have been repainted/stickered up.

Leth Armitage 2nd March 2014 10:49 PM

ah well, there ya go then James. The only planes sporting the new logo that I have seen have been the Tigerair Singapore ones.....I haven't seen any Australian registered ones yet but given time I probably will, sometime.

Lukas M 25th May 2014 08:37 PM

Next one for Tiger has had its first flight VH-XUH.

VH-XUI is not far off either.

No Sharklets are installed on these or any future aircraft.

Adrian B 26th May 2014 01:40 PM

Please ensure all new Tiger aircraft carry a role of gaffa tape in the glove box.
Apparently / allegedly an Adelaide Melbourne flight was held for 6 hours whilst they flew an engineer to fix a tray table in the exit row. Apparently the engineer was flown from Melbourne to Adelaide on another carrier.

Solution? Wrap gaffa tape around the seat to prevent it from deploying in the exit row.

Mick F 11th June 2014 10:23 AM

Looking forward to getting my hands on some more new one's, :-).

Shame there's no sharklet's though, :-(.

Is this because the sectors are to short for any real difference? I would have thought the coast to coast flights would benefit.

Cheers

JamesL 11th June 2014 11:30 AM

Based on the lessors requirements, not the airlines.

JamesL 19th June 2014 01:52 PM

Rumour has it that XUH is parked up in TLS.

JamesL 11th August 2014 05:44 PM

VHVNK returned from XSP yesterday, it's had a partial repaint to the titles and engines but the tail is still original.

Mackenzie Davis 19th August 2014 06:48 PM

VH-VNB is in Seletar at the moment

Repaint???

JamesL 19th August 2014 09:49 PM

Yes

Greg Hyde 19th August 2014 11:41 PM

Any word when the new ones stored in TLS will be delivered ?
