SQ A380 arrival this evening

Just watched a Singapore Airlines A380 on short finals to 16R fly past my house. I am assuming that it's SQ 233 as listed on the Sydney Airport International arrivals page. Is this flight now an A380? Was SQ 221 an A380 this morning or have SQ changed the aircraft around?

A380 operating SQ233

9V-SKF has recently arrived as SQ233 which traditionaly is operated by a 777-300ER.

That would explain why I saw the SQ A380 at the terminal when I arrived on DJ873 last night.
Was going to ask about that...

Isn't SQ233 normally a 744? If not, the 77W must be a quite recent addition to this route. I'll have to check it out if not a regular 380 flight not having seen the SQ77W in SYD yet

Mike,

The 77W is not a recent on this route, they have been operating the route since it started last year. As far as I'm aware all the 77W's have operated into Sydney.

It was additional flight due to some complications arising out of LHR.

PAX on board SIN bound flight fell gravely ill over Russia and the PIC decided to turn the flight around.

None of the airlines heading this way would delay their flights for the inbound SQ aircraft and with flights to Australia / NZ out of SIN being usually heavy there was no room to move all the PAX, so they ferried the 380 out to pick them up and bring them to SYD, they overnighted SYD last night and NZ bound passengers were sent out on EK412/418 this morning.

It sucked to be the crew of that flight also as they then had to operate SQ220 this morning (which I was on this morning).

Thanks for the feedback. I decided to drive home via Qantas Drive this afternoon and enjoyed the sight of seeing the SQ A380 lifting off from 16R while the QF A380 was parked at Terminal 1.

Thanks Stefan. I had no idea any SQ Triple 7s were regular visitors to SYD. Although I have seen company 772s in MEL. Shows what I know aye?

I'll have to go check it out. :o
