It was additional flight due to some complications arising out of LHR.
PAX on board SIN bound flight fell gravely ill over Russia and the PIC decided to turn the flight around.
None of the airlines heading this way would delay their flights for the inbound SQ aircraft and with flights to Australia / NZ out of SIN being usually heavy there was no room to move all the PAX, so they ferried the 380 out to pick them up and bring them to SYD, they overnighted SYD last night and NZ bound passengers were sent out on EK412/418 this morning.
It sucked to be the crew of that flight also as they then had to operate SQ220 this morning (which I was on this morning).
