CV-580 VH-PDX

G'day all

I witnessed VH-PDX arriving into Wagga at about 1830 this evening. It's since refueled and has departed approx 1918. Hearing them on the scanners, they're tracking to St George, via Young, Cowra, Dubbo, Walgett then onto St George.

Purely for curiosity sake, would anyone know what the purpose of this flight is? Seeing these types on the ground at Bankstown last year (And the odd 2230 night departure), I never actually saw one airborne in daylight until tonight! :)

Many thanks.

I read this post only a few hours ago with interest.

Lo and behold, I walk out into my western suburbs backyard a few minutes ago and, upon looking skyward, I see a Convair aircraft flying low on descent into Bankstown.

What are the odds?

I heard one of them - can't recall if it was X or W - doing some practice approaches on the Richmond ILS one afternoon a few weeks back - new crew training perhaps?

It landed on 11C whilst I was on final for 11L. An interesting sight to see land, it just looks so awkward....

PDX was sitting in Mackay today.

Usually carries mining equipment.
