FO Nearly Sucked Out After Windshield Burst

A Sichuan Airlines A329-100 registration B6419 flight from Chongqing to Lhasa in China at approx FL32000 ft when the first officer’s windshield burst completely. The FO’s seat belt stopped him from being sucked out of the aircraft.
The captain dirverted and landed the aircraft.

I recall many years ago an almost identical event happened to a British Airways BAC 111 outbound from Birmingham Airport ( BHX ) . The enquiry found an incorrect installed windscreen panel following maintenance. The pilot that day was saved by crew holding on to him as he was hanging out across the nose of the aircraft .

The BAC 111 incident was due to the wrong size (in length) bolts/screws being used when the windscreen was replaced.

I am pretty sure the BAC 1-11 was the incorrect diameter screws that were installed. I used to work with the guy who was working on that aircraft that night.

It was on ACI as s02e01 Blow Out/Ripped from the Cockpit.
