Apparently there were two flights, I expect we might see a bit more of that moving forward.

MarkR 5th April 2020 01:38 PM

9V-SYL operating SQ212 ex Sydney popped into ASP today, presumably to pickup crew from the ferry birds then headed to DRW for customs and border formalities.

James Smith 5th April 2020 01:40 PM

At present United is the only operator offering passenger services from the US with its daily UA863/870 flights to SFO with 789s.

There are a number of additional flights inbound to SYD at present from the US:

UA2793 from LAX 787-9 estimated to arrive at 18:01 this evening.
DL8835 from LAX 772LR estimated to arrive at 20:32 this evening.

Also, in addition to QF129/130 operating flights carrying freight only, there have been a number of Air China flights to SYD over the past week which I presume are carrying only freight as well. One is CA593 which is inbound now from PEK and due to arrive at 14:33. Maybe picking up toilet paper. :)

There have also been three Cathay Pacific flights so far today, operated by 77Ws, non of which are showing on the Sydney Airport flight listings. These maybe freight only flights as well but using, like QANTAS, the passenger flight numbers.

Decided to stay home (actually, my parents didn't want me to go). I tried spotting it from home using a telescope. The images were pretty horrendous due to the weather and glare. Any news on when it will depart?

PK-LEG is scheduled to go to Delhi today then to Denpasar due tomorrow morning using the flight number that was mentioned in the article. So maybe there might be another one tomorrow night.

Rescue flights to AKL and CHC. A large number of Germans are in NZ hence the number of Lufthansa flights over recent weeks

KLM B777-300ER PH-BVO is scheduled into Sydney this evening.

Flight is from Tokyo-NRT and due at 2100. Flight number KL827

Cheers
Mark

Tony Chatham 17th April 2020 05:26 PM

It appears that KLM's routing was somewhat longer than the usual Tokyo-Sydney routing as they have skirted around the west of PNG. Obviously they lacked the requisite overflight approvals but why?
