DJ402 Pan Pan Call

DJ402 declared a Pan Pan this morning and was given priority landing clearance on runway 16R. Pilot reported smoke in the cockpit and cabin. After landing aircraft was escorted back to the terminal by 3 fire trucks. If not mistaken the flight departed Sydney for Adelaide and was forced to return.

The flight was operated by VH-VUF (737-800)

Interesting. Have they found a cause for the smoke yet?

Marty H 14th June 2008 01:16 PM

Cant be too bad said aircraft is ferrying to MEL and then operating a flight to OOL this arvo.

Are you sure its Smoke in the Cockpit..... last I heard it was a "smell", would that be a newsworthy article then?

Greg/Karl
At the end of the day, it’s the editors/producers who determine if the event is newsworthy, not which Airline!

Cheers
Mark

Would you call a PAN PAN just for a smell?

Phil M 17th June 2008 06:14 PM

A smell could mean something is burning, and there is no time to get up and have a look. Better safe than sorry.

Craig Lindsay 18th June 2008 03:22 PM
