FDX77 31,000FT into Sydney

Hi,

According to Planefinder and Flightradar, FDX77 N573FE is approaching Sydney at 31,000FT on a heading of 216. (@4pm)

I thought at that heading you would be required to be flying at an even altitude. UPS34 is right behind him at 36,000FT.

Perhaps the data FDX77 is broadcasting is incorrect?

Non-standard levels can be given if traffic permits. He could even be in a block level (FL300-FL320 for example).

Thanks Mick.

I would think that after burning all that fuel from HNL he would have stepped higher like the UPS aircraft close behind.

Depending on the headwind at higher levels it is sometime more prudent for time and/or fuel reasons to stay low.
