QANTAS to operate JNB to PER

QANTAS are to commence 4 weekly services from Johannesburg to Perth from 7 December, 2018 with A332s.

Quote:

QANTAS last week filed proposed schedule for Johannesburg – Perth one-way flight. Based on the schedule filing, the effective date is being displayed from 07DEC18, with Airbus A330-200 aircraft operating 4 weekly flights.

Additional changes for this sector will be made soon. Preliminary schedule as follows.

QF066 JNB2225 – 1400+1PER 332 x247
The outbound service details are to follow, which I presume will be flight number QF065 and will fit sequentially with the SYD - JNB flight numbers. QANTAS are certainly adding new international services from its combined domestic, international terminal in Perth. Paris to follow in 2019?

The 63 and 64 used to run SYD-PER-JNB back in the early 2000's when I lived there. I think they changed not long after SAA commenced ops into Perth, but that was half a lifetime ago [emoji38]. The 23/24 used to be Perth to Harare until Zimbabwe fell apart... I belive thats roughly when the 63/64 to JNB started up

I think the only reason Harare was used was JNB was of the table due to apartheid era sanctions. the switch back to JNB was more related to the improvement in SA relations than any deterioration in Zim.
