Mt Druitt A380 visit

Had an interesting visitor over Mt Druitt this evening.

No less than a Qantas A380 on approach to Sydney.

It was completing a London to Sydney run and was seen quite low over the area at around 2000-2030.

Big deal you may say, but we actually get precious few flights whatsoever here approaching Sydney.

Unusually, we got around 5-6 domestic flights doing so a few days before Christmas, but, as usual, was spoilt by cloud/weather.

There seemed to be no particular reason for this one tonight, given the time of day and the calm, clear conditions.

From memory, it flew east from Parkes then headed southeast from near Lithgow, then swung northeast and headed over Mt Druitt towards Lane Cove where it lined up for final approach.

Hi Jeff

It was VH-OQD (QF32)
Passed over you about 5600ft before going into 16R

Hi Jeff,

I too have seen ocassional different tracks to 16R. This one back in May this year shows a Singapore Airlines 772 heading for 16R on a different track to all the others which used the normal track.

For those who know the track should notice the difference compared to usual..
