A310 3 times a week to micronesia eff 7jan 2010 onto MNL or NRT.

Torin Wilson 8th December 2009 05:25 PM

I'd definitely take one of those flights. I loved Guam, and would love to visit Palau.

The flights to and from Japan for both myself and my brother (him JO/JL KIX-GUM, and me CO/CS NRT-GUM) were very full, and for a 4 hour long flight they weren't the cheapest flights!!

Saipan is not as nice as Guam, either but I'd imagine Palau would be more like Fiji.

Steve Jones 8th December 2009 05:34 PM

Is it just me or is their schedule on their website too confusing to make any sense? Also they talk about online booking but nowhere to do it.

I wish them luck but pretty brave starting flights exactly a month after launching the airline. I suspect pretty low loads for the first couple of months await...

That said, it's smart pretty smart to offer connections to NRT and MNL to fill up the plane (though from the schedule it's hard to work out how good the connections actually are). Pricing will have to be competitive to compete with the non-stop options, though.

Good luck to them... Tempting to get on board if only for the A310 :)

Also more new flights for Brisbane

Quote:

February will see limited nonstop PVG-BNE-PVG China Eastern services with A340-300 equipment and New Caledonia-based carrier Aircalin will also introduce a seasonal Tuesday A320 service from Noumea to Brisbane (in addition to the odd extra A330-200 flight) and continue operating Thursday services with A330-200 equipment.

Garuda Indonesia is also set to return to Brisbane with effect March 2010, however reports are conflicting, with a suggestion of 4 weekly DPS/BNE services or 4 weekly CGK/BNE services. Interestingly, Strategic Airlines is planning on introducing BNE/DPS services in Q1 2010.

Just been trying to work out their schedule... This is the way I see it.

Monday - on ground in BNE
Tuesday - BNE-GUM-ROR-MNL
Wednesday - MNL-ROR-GUM-BNE-ROR (overnight flight arr THU am)
Thursday - ROR-NRT-ROR-MNL
Friday - MNL-ROR-GUM-BNE
Saturday - BNE-GUM-ROR-MNL
Sunday - MNL-ROR-NRT-ROR-BNE (overnight flight arr MON am)

Pretty clever utilisation as i see it, allowing connections to/from all destinations and one day in BNE per week for maintenance. Looks like overnights are in Manila and Brisbane only.

Andrew P 11th December 2009 03:27 PM

it is not MNL, it is CLK, (ie using Clark - Diosdado Macapagal International Airport, which is 100km north of Manila)

Malcolm Parker 15th December 2009 01:05 PM

Hi All,

Just to advise ops have been postponed due to Hi-fly requesting some last minute changes in block times, which now have to go through regulators for final approval. JAN 12/ 13 will be new start up date.

We should have intial brochures through our own internal Wholesaler in a few weeks time. A more comprehensive incorporating diving will be out by about March.

Koror- Newly formed airline Pacific flier suffered a stumbling block in its bid to launch international flight services to the Philippines after the FAA refused to grant it a foreign air carrier's permit.

The FAA decision prompted the Palau-based carrier owned by Aviation Matters to suspend and defer its flight plans from Koror to Brisbane, Manila and Guam scheduled for January 12 launch due to ownership issues as found by the FAA, an airline executive said Monday.

"We are still waiting for the FAA's approval but unfortunately they wont be coming any time soon due to some technical and legal issues with them" says Eckert Seamans, Legal representative for the airline.

Pacific Flier Airline is supposed to start flight on January 12 using an Airbus A310-300 from Hi Fly-Transportes Aereos, S.A, a Portuguese-based leasing firm. But Continental Micronesia protested said application on grounds of ownership as effective control of the airline belongs to HiFly, a charter airline based in Lisbon Portugal.

The FAA said that while Aviation Matters, the holdidng company of Pacific Flier, is incorporated in Palau, majority of its owners are not citizens of the island making it a foreign controlled airline. Due to ownership issues, the operators permit was denied killing the airlines hope of flying the pacific skies under the current corporate regime.

"We already filed a petition to the FAA for an exemption to the CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) for a foreign air carrier permit and they are pending resolution" says Seamans.

While the airline waits for its approval, they were prevented from selling airline tickets for the proposed destination until a permit is issued.

The leased aircraft (cn495) with registry CS-TEI is capable of accommodating 18 business and 176 economy passengers says Shane Styles, the airline’s marketing head.

"The Airbus 310 is supposed to arrived from Lisbon to Clark airport in Manila via Dubai tomorrow as it start scheduled flight to Koror" says Styles. One way fare from Clark has been pegged at $230 per person and $459 return, exclusive of government taxes.

Pacific flier scheduled departure every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday from Palau to Manila Clark at 7:00 AM with arrivals at 10:35AM for a travel time of 2 hours and 30 minutes. Schedule for departures from Clark is every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday leaving at 5:40PM arriving Koror at 7:10PM Local time. It was then scheduled to leave for Brisbane in Australia and back to Koror before proceeding to Guam and back to Koror then Manila in that rotation.

Styles said that flyers were already circulated to travel agents in a 16-page brochure offering packages in Guam and Palau but the airline's booking engine was disabled by FAA preventing them to take online bookings.
pity

Pacific Flier Airline is supposed to start flight on January 15, however Federak Aviation Administration failed to grant the airline an air carrier’s permit due to ownership issues.

The airline has 18 business and 176 economy passenger seats.

“A long time in the planning and making, PacificFlier has been able to inaugurate a schedule of charter services with the full backing of the government of the Republic of Palau. PacificFlier wants to acknowledge its appreciation for the support it has received from the Government of The Republic of Palau,” Styles said in a statement.

VH-VNK operated the inaugural Tiger Airways flight into Brisbane this morning operating TT8112 from Adelaide.

VNK should be arriving back in Brisbane shortly from the inaugural rotation to Rockhampton. However it appears it has been delayed.

Rick K 28th March 2010 06:44 PM

What's that got to do with Pacific Flyer?

Will H 29th March 2010 12:46 PM

I think this thread has started to discuss other new carriers at BNE.

Back on topic--Pacific Flier is going to offer 2x 70lbs bags?

Andrew P 17th August 2010 08:51 AM

bye bye

Koror – Palau-based airline Pacific Flier of Aviation Matters has suspended all flights operations to and from Koror last week on account of poor passenger sales and operating losses after it failed to secure landing rights to Guam.

President Johnson Toribiong of Palau said that the airline which has only been in service for four months has cancelled all flights “until further notice.”

Its last flight was made to the Philippines' Manila-Clark airport on friday, August 13, 2010 with resumption to its service likely to be nil.

Peter Agatsiotis 24th August 2010 02:15 AM
