UTAir AN-74 in Alice Springs
I noticed UTAir AN-74 RA-74013 on the apron at YBAS a week ago when I was leaving town for a trip, but I didn't have the camera and it was a wet grey day so the photo's would have been awful. On my return yesterday, it was still parked here!
Apparently it's awaiting a replacement engine, so I suspect it diverted here sometime in the second week of January. Not sure where the original destination would have been. I did not log this guy using ADSB so it's possible he came here from the South (I have a huge blind-spot towards the airport as I'm on the north side of the MacDonnell Ranges) https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7542/...af0a7f9e_z.jpg |
It could be there a long time .. UTAir have financial problems , their A321 due for delivery have been placed in store and their 737's have returned to the lessor ..

Seems to have stopped there enroute from CBR back to BME on 22 Dec. Guess it went tech as I know it was originally planned nonstop to BME.Attachment 2078

It was for a ADF charter. It had some problems on the way down as well, Been here for a month, that is really bizarre.

Wonder if the crew are having a very long holiday or if they had to pay for the trip home on their credit cards?!? :-)

A little birdie at the airport here told me their credit card was actually rejected when trying to pay for fuel :-( Sounds like the financial woes will keep it here for some time (was still parked up yesterday)

Another 2 months would be great, be there 18 March!

Looks like replacement parts have arrived & been fitted. Did a 55min test flight yesterday & according to flightaware, it's flying Alice Springs to Broome.
