An Herculean Effort
I've noted 8 R A A F C130Js in the skies over N S W today so this effort may be associated with Operation Slipper Parades being held.
The only Australian based C130J not participating is A97-447 which may be on disaster relief duties in Vanuatu and three C130Js are based overseas as far as I know. Congratulations R A A F on a great effort. |
More here Bob, and the following post.
|
Actually, 2 J models are under going servicing, one is overseas in the Middle east, 1 in Vanuatu and 8 were here.
|
Most of the sites that I have looked at suggest that there are still 12 x C130J operating for the RAAF and based at Richmond. Is that correct?
A97-440 A97-441 A97-442 A97-447 A97-448 A97-449 A97-450 A97-464 A97-465 A97-466 A97-467 A97-468 Cheers Mark |
Thanks Damien ; I wasn't aware that two were undergoing service as I thought three were in the Middle East and I also assumed that 1 (A97-447) was on disaster relief duties in Vanuatu so 8+1+2+1=12.

Hi Mark
Yes ; R A A F Richmond is home to the 12 C130Js but they are rarely, if ever, all together there at one time as operational requirements take them far and wide. |
Picked up A97-447 on MODE-S at 9pm. Looks to be out towards West Wyalong way ATM.
|
A97-447 came up on Sydney ADS-B at 1906, and then again at 2048 along with A97-440
|
Correction to my post above, it was in fact only 1 being serviced (i had been out of the office since Wednesday) with two, not one in the Middle East.
