Runway 34R Unusual Movement

I noticed two SACL vehicles on ADS-B, parked down at the threshold end of Runway 34R, nothing unusual, but when I checked visually there were also two
Mini-Buses. Two teams of workers, maybe 20 in total were walking line abreast across the grass area at the side of the Runway. They walked at right angles
to the Runway, and then along the Runway for some distance.

Did someone lose their wallet ?

Were they hunting Rabbits ?

Collecting FOD ?

Images taken from my balcony, 4km away.

I'm on days off. They can look there all they like! ;)

It's appropriate that you've shot the images through the Ports cranes....

There was a nest of Red Imported Fire Ants found at Port Botany late last year, and this inspection was part of a 5 week long follow up program to ensure there's no other colonies in the nearby areas.

Do they just walk through the grass and if one of them gets bitten they have proof that there's a nest???
