I recollect an incident when an a/c on final approach to 34R with even relatively light westerly winds ran into wake vortices from super heavy a/c that landed on 34L moments earlier. It's an issue that ATC rules need to take into account. After this incident I'd be much more likely to ask for vectoring - better to be safe than sorry!
