AAPA to consolidate to Ballarat

AAPA announced today that it would consolidate its operations to Ballarat, with students and some staff to relocate from Wagga Wagga to Ballarat.

Maybe the Federal Government could consider purchasing the buildings at Wagga Wagga and starting up a “tafe” like pilot and aviation academy.

That would be good. Qantas' pilot academy in Toowoomba is charging around $130k, and yet they wonder why they have a pilot shortage :D

How does $130K compare to alternative methods ?

Are you guaranteed a job if you graduate from the QF academy ?

Pretty standard. I think Sharp Airlines charges significantly more but includes a Metroliner type rating.

So out of the 57 Saab aircraft in the fleet, only 28 are operational, 29 parked or in long term storage (majority in Wagga Wagga).

ex Pel-Air Beechcraft King Air 350 VH-8AM (though Rex became the registered operator during the Pel-Air sale) is due to leave the country (had a flight plan for MCY-APW). Still has the NSW Ambulance livery but with titles and logo removed.

Down to 56 now. VH-RXQ was scrapped in Adelaide in January having been sitting there since July 2022. https://www.planespotters.net/airfra...irlines/r1pkqo
