Reason for Jetstar to reduce SIN-AKL?

Anyone know what's going on? It's being changed at relatively short notice.

Quote:

From 11SEP11 to 27NOV11, JetStar Asia is temporary reducing Singapore – Auckland service from 6 to 4 weekly.

Departure from Singapore on Thursdays and Sundays is cancelled. From Auckland, flights cancelled on Mondays and Fridays.

Anything to do with the choking incident?

Ash W 6th September 2011 09:09 PM

What in anyones wildest imagination would some poor bloke choking on a flight have to do with the airline temporarily reducing frequency?

Brock Little 6th September 2011 09:33 PM

No idea, depends on the impact that reports have created on the travelling public...just putting forward a suggestion! :)

Maybe due to aircraft availability? It's highly unlikely to be related to the choking incident. It's an unfortunate event but it's hardly Jetstar's fault.

330's going in for a H check?

Lukas M 7th September 2011 07:33 AM

Because its such a poor performer. Wont surprise me if its scrapped by next year.

Lukas has hit the nail on the head - spot on.

3K's(JQ) SIN-AKL was orginally daily and JQ's SIN-MEL are both struggling big time. Why would anyone in their right minds pick JQ when you have a full service option like SQ/BA/QF/EK offering similar fares?

StevenW 7th September 2011 11:26 AM

I'm a little surprised to hear SIN-MEL isn't doing well. I've flown it (and MEL-SIN) a few times this year - usually at the pointy end - and loads in both cabins have been pretty solid every time.

I use it mostly because of the timing. Emirates have a very similar fare but arrives in Singapore around midnight, which to me is much less convenient than JQ's ~5pm arrival.

Air Asia is increasing thier KUL-CHC service over the summer.
I think Air Asia has long haul LCC ex AU/NZ already stitched up with the connections offered thru KUL, to Europe in particular, so much so that you get can't sub $500 one ways to STN/LGW anymore, the lowest is generally around the $750 mark if you book yonks in advance.
