Southern Africa Spotting/Activities

Hi everyone,

I will be working for roughly six months in Cape Town from October to March on an assignment with my company. I'm hoping to make the most of my time there and check out some of the local aviation goodies. I'm just wondering if anyone here has any suggestions - interested in all suggestions, especially the following:
  • Spotting locations/advice/cautions for major airports (JNB, CPT, DUR) and also those in neighbouring countries
  • Any special historic flights or airports with historic aircraft
  • Any other must-do activities for plane nuts

Thanks all!
Gareth

Deleted. I should have read Donald's post properly first.

I would be very very very carefaul about going alone in South Africa especially with a nice amount of camera gear. Perhaps finding about a local interest group you can team up with might be adviseable.
