This airline is becoming a joke. And it works LOL. Absolutely amazing stuff, however I believe that a lot of these will be used to replace/phase out older aircraft, like the A340/A330 series aircraft and older 772/773's, not too much for expansion. But then you have the A380's so....

Andrew M 13th November 2011 07:59 PM

Indeed

From Wiki........ so take it with a grain of sale

Current Fleet
27 x A330-200
8 x A340-300
10 x A340-500

16 x A380
3 x 777-200
6 x 777-200ER

10 x 777-200LR
12 x 777-300
57 x 777-300ER
Total 149

Those in bold due to be phased out sooner than later I feel... 64 aircraft...

Fleet on Order
50 x A350-900
20 x A350-900
74 x A380s
95 x 777-300ER :eek::eek:
Total 239

 is absolutely right... that is a LOT of aircraft! Even allowing for replacements, is there NO stopping EK's growth!?!?

Lets hope that their oil supply doesn't run out!!!

Dubai doesn't have any oil, they have to import it like everyone else.

Dubai is a state of the UAE, bit like Ireland is a state of the EU, Ireland doesn't have bratwurst, it has to import them from Germany :-)

Im was actually talking about the Airline, Emirates as to what the thread is about, which is actually wholly owned by the UAE government.

The UAE actually has the 8th largest (down from 6th) oil reserve in the world.

Emirates is not owned by the UAE government, the Dubai government does however have a stake in Emirates.

The UAE capital is Abu Dhabi city in the state of Abu Dhabi, Dubai is a member state of the UAE which has seven members.

Etihad is the national airline of the UAE, Emirates is an airline based in Dubai and operates independently of the UAE.

As I said earlier Dubai has no oil and it has to import the stuff from elsewhere at the current market rates.

Mike S 23rd March 2012 01:30 PM

My mistake. I have a close friend who works with Emirates and has always told me that the UAE owns it.

Looking at their page on wiki however i can see that the state government of Dubari owns it.
