VH-VOD - Why never used on SYD-PER?
Hi,
I flew on the lovely VH-VOD on Saturday from OOL to SYD which had a two hour delay due to fog in SYD. I was seriously kicking myself as I had turned down an offer for an earlier flight at check-in (on VH-YFK which was on time). I must say how stunning VOD is looking wearing white baby powder on the top half of its fuselage (well it looked that way anyway) - it flew beautifully though! Seats are dreadful - I had a back ache until today. So I must ask... why isn't VH-VOD (or the ex VOA VOB VOC) ever used on SYD to PER sectors? They always seemed to do short sectors. Regards, Steve S |
Steve dont quote me on it but I believe these(not VOA/C because theyre already gone) only just have Business class and not the full Sky Interior when refitted in NZ and still having the old seats as the -700's. The reason for this is that they are older and nearing ending of lease which gives no point refitting them completely.

Thanks Tim...
I've never noticed VOA, B, C or D used on SYD-PER over the ten years. I used to think it was because they didn't used to have winglets. Yeah it makes sense - must be the seats. As at last Saturday, VOD still had the red premium economy seats which I would regard as a rip-off for anyone who paid business class. It is interesting considering VOD is used on BNE-SYD-MEL all the time - key business class routes. |
Anyone that flew on VOD in business got a refund for the fare difference.

VOA-VOD have been to Perth at some point. However they have lower thrust rating and consequently lower take-off weight limits which precludes an effective payload being carried on longer sectors. Same as VBA-VBL for the -700s.

I think that is similar to Qantas 737-800's - VH-VYA to VH-VYL.
