The aircraft looks like a B737 and if you measure the length of the shadow and the length of the Virgin Blue B737 taxiing closer to the terminal, they are just about the same length. This would suggest that the aircraft is close to the ground, probably just lifted off. The shadow being to the east of the runway is consistent with the shadow cast from the oil tanks to the west of the runway, confirming that the aircraft would have been aligned with the runway at the time.

Nigel's ocmments about the sequence of image passes will be the answer for sure, one pass caught the shadow and the other missed the aircraft.
