With winds like we experienced yesterday Nathan, you could have had anything from plastic bags to ULD's blowing around the place. Hardly the airport owner's responsibility.
Brett, I have to disagree with your statement that ATC were stressed. On our first go around, Director said "hullo again, ........" in a very relaxed and professional manner. Pretty good service, considering he had 3 aircraft thrown at him unexpectedly in an already busy terminal area. On the second, we were sent around and handed off to departures, who also got us expeditiously back around the circuit for the last time. And back to the same Director, who gave me the impression that he was doing this on his ear.
Sydney ATC cop a flogging from us pilots at times, but you can rest assured that when stuff like this happens, they can be trusted to do a fantastic job.
