As I write this, another Typhoon is upon Taiwan - though this year has been rather void of them - the rain is needed as dams are getting low - trouble is, that rain comes by the bucket - and very large buckets at that.
Presently tracking South to North, though not particularly windy (Gusts to about 50kts), but over 500mm of rain has already fallen in southern Taiwan. If it follows the projected path, the centre should be over Taipei around midnight tonight (Saturday) and then track off towards Shanghai.
As at 12:00 local time, Kaohsiung (KHH) is still open, with some cancellations/delays, as are Taoyuan (TPE) and Taipei (TSA). I am located about 25km from TPE - weather is currently calm, overcast, 35C, no rain or even hint of.
The Goverrnment has grounded all domestic flights for the day - not that domestic is much here.
