Just a note on the Channel 7 Jetranger with floats. I was working for Seven Sydney at the time and our machine, also a Jetranger 206B III (VH-ATS) had floats installed for the Sydney-Hobart Race in 1983. We chased the yatchs as far as Victoria/Bass Striat and Melbourne chopper (VH-ATD) took over.
I have some B&W photos of it... somewhere... will post as soon as I find them.
As a cameraman, the floats were an absolute pain. You had to stretch the harness to its limits to sit out on the floats and the pilots (Frank is still there) hated it as it off balanced too much. The floats were taken off asap after the race and I don't think we saw them again. VH-SEV arrived 18 months later... and no floats!
