Actually Grahame, the Department of Transport & Communications remained but two additional organisations were formed from it, FAC 1 Jan 1988 and CAA 1 July 1988. CAA was further split inro CASA and AirServices in July 1995.

DoT&C became the Department of Transport & Regional Development and has since been Incorporated with other Departments since the last election. However, there is still a aviation division which has roots back to DCA, see -
