Default Michael Jackson's visit to Australia

On the news last night they said he visited here in 1987 and 1996.

I went to his concert at Adelaide Oval which I think was mid-November, 1996 and I think he chartered a Qantas B767 for the tour.

I am interested in dates, anyone remember further details?

Hi Robert

My records show that Michael Jackson last visited Perth on 27 November 1996.
He and his entourage arrived in a chartered Air Niugini A310-324, P2-ANG !

I'm still searching for details of any earlier visits.

I can say he was in Sydney on the 16th of November, 1996 - i saw him in concert at the SCG. He was married on the previous day to Debbie Rowe.

On 25/11/96 P2-ANG Airbus A310-300 of Air Niugini F/N PG5071 arrived in Adelaide with Michael Jackson. Aircraft left on 27/11/96 for Perth.

The concert stage was at the northern end of Adelaide Oval and the crowd was 30,000. I remember Jackson strutting across the stage in his space suit.

Michael Jackson was also in Adelaide on June 30th, 1973 as part of the " Jackson Five Plus One " tour. The concert was at the now demolished Apollo Stadium in the Adelaide suburb of Richmond. He was aged 14 at the time.

The support group for this 1973 Australian tour was "Mint"

I am still wondering whether a Qantas B767 featured in the 1996 tour.( Or am I thinking of Paul McCartney's tour ? )There was some footage on the weekend showing Jackson stepping off a Qantas aircraft. Maybe he flew to Australia with Qantas.

I have foggy memories that his 1996 trip may well have involved N138SR (aka the former VH-EBB QF 707-138B) which now in a sad state at Port Harcourt in Nigeria.

It also seems that "The Jacksons" used 707-138B VH-EBA when it was registered as N138TA for the "Victory Tour" of the USA in 1984.

Remember that well Bob - think I have some pics somewhere.

I remember it was impossible to get anywhere near the ITB as the APS and WAPOL shut down Horrie Miller Drive for the "Motorcade".

Cheers, Duncan.
