Exclamation JQ should be ashamed - ATSB findings

The ATSB has today released it findings into a mishandled go around at Melbourne Airport in 2007: http://www.atsb.gov.au/publications/investigation_reports/2007/aair/ao-2007-044.aspx

Basically the flight crew didn't know what the a/c was doing and descended to within 38 ft of the ground in fog before successfully executing a TOGA.

Whilst many of the safety shortcomings identified have now been rectified, in my view it's an alarming report that should be compulsory reading for all trainees and experienced pilots alike - situational awareness is everything! If this sort of incident had occurred with one of our near neighbours to the north many on this board would have been scathing. Those involved in this incident should be ashamed of themselves - this aircraft came within 38 ft of the ground! That scares the hell out of me to be honest, especially when despite the EGPWS going off not once but twice no-one told the ATSB until they asked more than two months later.

Question Jetstar near miss with the ground!

I'm curious that this post hasn't attracted any comment - is JQ a protected species?

Points at the aircraft operators go-around procedure, but alot of discrepencies such as pilot awareness, the ding bat who changed their standard go-around procedure without checking if it is suitable, and another Airbus meet and greet at Melbourne. CTL ALT DEL
