I am retired and have been for over 7 years.
In the warmer months I take my morning tea in the garden. My house is in direct line with runway 16L. The old West Pymble outer marker is nearby. It was a radio mast strung between several poles. Government has sold the land it was on and there is a house now. What technology they currently use I have no idea. So, any aircraft using 16L must go over my house. My late parents’ house is about 1km away, also in line with 16L and I remember as a boy a TAA 727 followed by an Ansett 727 going over when the 2 airlines operated the same schedule and fares. All was set by government. In the last few months, all I have seen is a Singapore 777, a Singapore A330 [I think], an Air NZ A321, a Qantas 737, Rex and 2 business jets. It is quiet. Unless the airport is using 34L most of the time. Shep’s mound must be empty. I have seen more birds fly over. Maybe I should take up bird watching instead.
