Just noticed ZK-NGH arrived earlier as NZ719. Years since we've seen one of these here. Will leave later probably as NZ718 .

Might see a couple more movements using this aircraft type in the next few days - I suspect the inspection regime on the ANZ aircraft will be increased due to the ash cloud.

Hope to see this one back as I missed it today and it is the only one of Air New Zealand's B733s that I am yet to see and photograph

Me too Mark, saw it every day in AKL on my May 2006 trip but didn't/couldn't photograph it but manged most of the others.

Hey there,

Slightly off topic, but when i was out spotting on the 21st of June to see that RNAF DC-10 i saw ZK-NBU under tow to the maintenace base with a chunk of the tail section missing. At the time i thought that maby NBU was being used as spares to power the rest of the ANZ 744 fleet. However after hearing she was in Sydney on the 2nd of this month I am curious as to just what the reason for this missing chunk was. If any of the pilots, engineers or people who are generally in the know with air craft maintenance could share some light as to just what was happening there I would appreciate it.

Heres the photo i took of it. I have some more close up's from when i went to investigate further however i cannot upload them as i am at work currently. let me know if you would like to see the close ups and il upload them when i get home tonight.

Saw NBU in syd on the 2nd looking normal!

that missing 'chunk' I believe is the access panel to the rudder control unit (stand to be corrected by those more in the know- however i am pretty sure its this)
