Hi all, might be a fruitless questions here, but about 10minutes ago, a relatively high up plane flew over my house and banked to turn to the west and then headed south-west. I'm in the Hills district (Sydney's north west) and dont normally get highflyers coming from the north and heading south, its contrail is still mostly there now if anyones interested and PP didnt have anything there?
Does anyone know what it would have been? Cheers Gerard |

I guess you can check out the WebTrak program to help you identify the aircraft.

I didn't think that WebTrak monitored aircraft that were that high since they don't exactly make that much noise when there high up?

You are right. There is nothing showing.

Virgin 737 - I saw it from the airport bank over the inner west and then head southwest - left a beautiful orange contrail in the sunset.

Its a common track I see quite a bit over my place in Petersham, but today they had quite a striking trail behind them. There were 2 about an hour apart both were Virgin Blue 737s.

Could someone who fill me in as to what sort of atmospheric conditions make for good contrails because tonight there were plenty whilst i was driving though the mountains out to Bathurst. At one stage they nearly had a naughts and crosses board going and then later on there was a nice t through the middle of the sun? Normally i don't see that many.

The contrail over Sydney around 5pm today was impressive, the aircraft heading south then turning to the right.
