Any news on when the Value Air brand will vanish?
I know JQ have been looking at getting rid of the Value Air brand and folding it completely into JQ Asia |

So JQ have 1.8B in rev Vs 2.6B with DJ? Still quite a difference, though I preusme it is not really apples with apples as JQ in some way will be taking revenue away from QF also.

![]() I don't know but AFAIK a few years ago the Singaporean government denied a Indonesian airline (AWAir rings a bell?) access into SIN so the Indonesian Government retaliated by not any further Singaporean airlines into Indonesia at the time Valuair was already flying to Indonesia but Jetstar Asia wasn't so QFG kept the Valuair brand for SIN-Indonesia ops however lately they have gotten around this on a few flights by sending Jetstar (Austraila) on a PER-CGK/DPS-SIN routing using 5th freedom rights.

Quoting Michael Morrison " So JQ have 1.8B in rev Vs 2.6B with DJ? Still quite a difference, though I presume it is not really apples with apples as JQ in some way will be taking revenue away from QF also"
Not just in "some way" - Qantas is slowly and methodically pushing many more routes to JQ - obviously much cheaper staff-wise: Their mainline overheads are still hurting especially having lost the LAX cash-cow! Hardly, though, a boast for JQ as it then gone from QF! How much longer wil QF, as such, exist?? |

What it said in the article gave us the answer.
Jetstar will replace the two old A320's used for Valuair with new models. So they will get these in the present colours of Jetstar asia. Also get 7 more 3 for Singapore and 4 for Australia and New Zealand. So Singapore gets the most growth of a wopping 45%!! only a small growth here. They will grow there business there as lower labour costs than here. It did not mention if any more A320's for the Vietnam operation, perhaps that arm of Jetstar is not doing well. Also the article failed to say if they will get any more A321's next year. |

There has been a lot of regulatory issues with their operation in Vietnam that has taken a lot longer to deal with and thus slowed things significantly. Especially in the domain that a lot of the airspace and fields are under Military control which has led to problems in getting data for aviation charts. Among other issues are maintenance space available. Also slowing expansion has been certain yield issues that were bought about by fare caps being imposed as well is import taxes on fuel especially after the past two years of high fuel costs. No new aircraft will go into their operation until late 2010.
Source: Tristan Freeman, the chief financial officer of Jetstar Pacific. Vietnam news. I also believe there is a nice article on all the Jetstar brands from this months Australian Aviation magazine which may cover some of the Asian brands in more depth. |
