Hi all!
I'm in the market for a radio scanner, and have no idea where to start! I'm hoping to get one which I can tap into the aviation frequencies and hear what's happening. I'd be using this for both whenever I head out to the airport (Bankstown or Sydney) to do some spotting, and when I'm at home in Sefton. In addition, was hoping for a scanner that can also tune 450.050Mhz, being my other 'spotting' hobby for those who know what that is :P Any suggestions on both scanners, and also antenna units (Our house is two story and right underneath the flight paths of Bankstown Airport, would that help) as well as prices would be greatly appreciated! While I'm at it, can anyone recommend a website where there is a list of frequencies? Many thanks! |

I'd suggest using the very functional 'Search' feature of the board. If you type in the word "Scanner", it comes up with this thread amongst a few others that will answer your questions http://yssyforum.net/board/showthrea...hlight=scanner

Hi all
Just thought I'd follow up my original posting, I ended up getting a Uniden UBC73XLT scanner from Ryda.com.au (Went into the shopfront before I went out spotting this morning), for $150. I'm quite satisfied with this unit as it definitely suits my purposes, was even more impressed I could pick up all the airport and approach frequencies from my workplace in Artamon! ![]() Since getting home from work, I've spent the past hour tinkering with it, and have somehow managed to pick up the police in Wagga, where I last lived. Good to know all the street and town names were familiar to me ![]() Cheers |
