A bit hard to find the 'last' readers comment as is always changing

Qantas are not the only one being affected at the moment

and you cant say that V will be a huge financial success, as they not even in the sky yet

Rocky time for all

Of course it is, but suddenely QF's highly protected and most profitable Pacific route is no more, yet for years they have been happy to rip the travelling public off.

The Virgin Group staff must be trained to bash all QF related issues.

I agree its GOOD to get some competition going, so all the best to V .
Qantas will indeed have to pull its horns in and compete.

Just wish 'some' DJ staff would keep their gob shut at times and not always have to Slag of QF

Is this the comment?

Qantas has to learn that patriotism isn't enough. We flew with them recently to the UK. We got a shabby, uncomfortable, 24 year old plane that was on its last run before being put out in the desert to retire! The staff were mostly rude, the 'service' appalling to non-existent (we even had to find our own water as none extra was offered throughout the flight) & we didn't get what we had paid for in ie: the scheduled modern plane & Video On Demand because this plane wasn't fitted with it. Qantas can't expect people to become patriotic when they treat customers with contempt & mislead them about the onboard facilities. Singapore all the way - who are also cheaper.

Or this?

I've had both fantastic (Qantaslink) and bad (international) Qantas trips, but it's the price that gets me. They would never have dropped their fares without the introduction of Virgin some 10 years ago, and still haven't matched completely. It may have taken the public 15 years to wake up and choose alternatives to Qantas but it will take more than 15 years for them to recover their reputation.

Seems to be the great majority of peoples comments are very anti-qantas...

Qantas has been fleecing the public for every cent it can for years and now they are asking for our help. Please spare me!

A lot the reader's comments are highly exagerated but there is some truth to it.

From a travel agent's point of view from AN's collapse to 9/11 the arrogance displayed by the QF industry sales was without equal. And basically they could really get away with it - there was no real alternative.

Now they are pretty much knocking at our door doing things which were unimaginable just a few months back - price matching competitors First and Business fares too. 2 for 1 deals in premium cabins. Lots of calls from QF sales such as 'we value you as our industry partner'...

It's all a bit too rich really - I've got a long memory and now I really don't need QF - I built up good relationships with other carriers who supported me and now I support them. QF gave me the agent nothing - so sorry QF - deal with it! You burnt your bridges big time with the travel industry - you lost my support a while back.

I love it when the average Aussie jumps up and down and screams to be rescued from some disaster be it natural or man made somewhere in the world looking for Qantas to come and rescue them en masse
