Wow!! Great video and congrats to the pilot for a successful outcome. Looks like the wheels copped a bit of a beating when it landed. Anyone know how much damage was sustained.
What was the cause? Engine failure or something else? He said engine troubles did he?

Rumour is that there was no risk of fire

Then again we all make mistakes, well typos anyway.....YSBK....

Never seen anything like that before, a little more height and he might have completed the turn onto 29R. It looks like he almost stalled it onto the ground, could have easily been tragic.

With an engine failure on takeoff from 29R, it would be highly unlike to make it back to the threshhold of 29R. Even if he made it to 1000ft heading for Parramatta, it is over 12,000ft back to the 29R threshold, you can't glide that far.

Possibly an engine failure on downwind ?

They both walked away in one piece, so that's one thing to be happy about.

Huh??!!? It could be cos im a bit slow today but where did fire come from?

....there may have been a severe shortage of flammable liquid on board......therefore no risk of fire.

Looks like VH-PXS, I flew it from Parafield to Ararat back in 1968 it was brand new with about 30 hours on the clock
