Was the outbound flight an extra one to the normal schedule, or otherwise how did QF account for the inbound flight?

It had a seperate ferry flight number. They operated SYD/LAX (QF11), and then later in the day flew the very short sector to VCV. On both occasions from memory, the QF12 that night wasn't in the system.

You mean -OGV is apparently headed over? That's really surprising -- it's the youngest 767 in the fleet, built in 2000 from memory. As QF are going to need to hang onto at least some frames for a few years until the 787s arrive, you'd have to think the GE aircraft from the first order would go.

You are correct. OGV was 2000. You would probably expect the all the ex British Airways ones to go before anything newer than OGI if they go on a age basis. The British Airways ones are 1990-91 builds with the exception of ZXG which is built in 1992.
