Trip Report: Virgin Australia SYD-BNE-SYD

I decided I would do a Brissy daytrip, just because I could more than anything. I’m not really a big fan of writing trip reports (although I like reading them), I made a pack with myself that I would do one everytime I got the chance to fly on my favourite aircraft!

One of the first flights of the morning out of Sydney, so the sun wasn’t up for take off so I opted not to bother taking photos until we got airbourne.

Cruise was quite quick, captain told gave a very informative address just before decent. Only thing wrong with his speech was that it interrupted Family Guy on Live’2’Air! :P

Turning onto extended Base for RWY19.




Just before turning onto finals for RWY19. The runway can be seen above the wing.




Made a smooth touchdown before taxiing to bay 39.

On the day I was really sick. A really bad cold that wouldn’t leave me alone, so I just spent the next 2 hours sitting down watching the various movements. VH-YVA departed to Cairns and VUY arrived from Denpasar.

At about 10:30 I decided that I would walk around to Loop Road. Spent most of the day spotting. A few nice surprises throughout the day!

164997 was the first surprise and it was a good one!


The always amazing VH-VBY. I will be seeing more of her later in the day!


G-BRMJ – Very last time in Australia on her delivery flight to wherever she is going!

Started to feel off again so I headed back around to the DJ terminal and waiting for my flight.

Wooo Virgin-ia Blue! .. again! Second time on her!

Boarded on time and taxied out to RWY01. As I was on the left side of the aircraft I was looking straight into the sun for departure so I decided to wait for the turn until I took some pics.



I think I had the dirtiest window on the whole plane!



Eventually we joined finals for RWY16L, by which time it was getting dark.


Made a smooth landing, long taxi back to Bay 32 and off Virgin-ia Blue for the second time!

Nice trip report, looks like you had a good day other than that stupid cold, (which you still happen to have ). Very nice shots!
